Why Health Care Is Killing Obama

President Barack Obama is disconnected from the American people on the ideas behind improving health care in America. Recent Gallup poll numbers -- placing him below former President Jimmy Carter in overall approval ratings -- point to it.

And now so do numbers of additional new polls.

The Washington Post/ABC News poll, which openly admits to polling a heavier segment of registered Democrats than independents and Republicans, puts his approval rating at below 50%.
The "passion index" tracked by the Rasmussen poll has watched the president's "strongly approve" numbers go from "+10" on May 31, to break even "+0" on June 28, to "-8" on July14th. Those numbers mean that 8% more of the population now "strongly disapprove" of his performance/policies, than "strongly approve." Among male voters the Rasmussen index is a "-10" point spread.

And a recent Public Strategies poll reports that only 44% of the American people feel the administration is on the right course. That's interesting because in March that number was 54%. Even big business has a better trend than the president: Four perecent of the population trust "corporate America" to do the "right thing" more than they did two months ago.

Earlier this week his head to head re-election numbers against the third place GOP contender in 2008, Mitt Romney, were dead even at 45% each.

So what happened since May to tank Obama?

In three words: health care reform.

The American people have seen what's in the plan. (Something the president admitted to not seeing last ) And they don't like it.

To Obama, I say: "I am perfectly happy with the quality of my healthcare."

To the rest of his statements, I say, "You are a buffoon who doesn't even know how the healthcare system in this country operates. You have maligned physicians because you made statements that insinuate they are in it for how much money they can make each day and you have the faulty assumption pediatricians do surgery on tonsils. Butt out of my life and my doctors' lives. Go back to your beer summits."

Better healthcare kill Obama in the polls than ObamaCare killing me and my family.

Here, yet again, are the problems. Care to address any of them?

I thought not.

This was a stupid and fascist idea. I repeat my objections, because frankly, I haven't seen any legitimate refutation of them:

• We must keep in mind: this is taxpayer money. In other words, you and I are helping people buy a new car. This is simply wrong. I've bought ten cars in my life. My aunt helped me a little with one. The government, none. And, because I believe in self-sufficiency, and because it offends me personally to be buying cars for others with money I need...I refuse to participate. What a stupid use of our hard-earned dollars.
• This program will hurt the poor. My father has been in this business for nearly fifty years, and so this point does come with a modicum of expertise. The priced of used/remanned engines will skyrocket. Laws of scarcity. Since it is mandated by Those Who Know Best For Us that these "clunker" engines must be destroyed...fewer engines are available to be reconditioned and sold. Thus, with supply scarce...up goes the price. And those who need this--the poor who can't buy a new car but could possibly afford a used one, or a "new" engine--are left high and dry.
• Remember what happened with housing--the beginning of the crash? The banks lent to too many people who shouldn't have received a loan. Well...here we go again. Scores of people are getting cars who really can't afford it. How long until defaults begin to mess up GMAC and their fellow organizations?
• Remember...this is a government program. Thus, it is proving to be slow in repayment, inefficient, and confusing (surprise, surprise). Dealers, with a razor-thin margin anyway, coming off a big recession, and with some now technically being arms of the government and unions (Government Motors, anyone)...they can't afford to wait the weeks and months for the "clunker" repayments. But guess what? It's government, so it's happening exactly that way. These dealerships can't afford a cash-flow problem...but that's what they're going to get.
• new point: 130 pages of regulations per approval. 'nuff said.
• new point: Just talked to a local car dealer. He will probably not take part in this any more. He is owed nearly $90,000, and no one will even begin talking to him about when that money will be available. This boondoggle will wreck many dealerships.
