Why I Believe In Islam

I was trying to find some articles and studies on atonement.
I ran across this site and read this page. Click for why she doesn't believe in Jesus

I went to the home page and tried to find out why the author believes in Islam, and found it.

Why she believes in Islam

Actually it's probably a guy...

My first instinct was to think "how ridiculous", but I can understands some of his points. It's really very sad though, and I may sit down and work up a reply after the kids go to bed.

What I gathered as a, probably THE main problem this person has is not what is listed and spoken of most, but that they don't feel that Christ's suffering and death were enough. This person cannot accept that they don't have to DO anything to be forgiven.

If someone chooses to go through this, and it is rather long, let me know your opinion.
I have read a lot of anti-Christian articles and heard a lot of garbage, but this isn't striking me as garbage or as someone trying to insidiously place doubts in the minds of Christians. It strikes me as a very confused person who has really thought about it.
What do you think?

Not long ago, I had a discussion with a black American Moslem. Here's a brief, non-verbatim summary:

him: Islam is the religion for the black man.

me: It was founded by Mohammed, who was WHITE.

him: You Christians use many Bible versions, while WE use ONLY the Koran.

me: It might surprise you to learn that the Koran has four versions in Arabic alone. Check it out.

him: Christianity has umpteen denominations, while Islam is one united front.

me: Please explain that to the Shiites & Sunnis blowing each other up in Iraq. Go tell each group what sinners they are by killing fellow Moslems.

him: The prophecies in the Koran have come to pass.

me: If you've actually THOROUGHLY READ the Koran, you should know it has NO prophecies. OTOH, the BIBLE has MANY prophecies, which have come true right down the line, as written. One of the most galling ones to the Arab world is that Judah is a nation again, in the land God promised them long ago, and that they are far too powerful for the Arabs to even think of attacking again. And, as you are 67 years old, you have been a witness of modern Israel's birth & growth. If Jesus' return is yet many years away, the Arabs will either run outta oil, or it will be replaced with other sources of energy, and they'll hafta live on their accumulated wealth, which isn't limitless. When it runs out, the Arabs will revert to their camel-jockey past, while Israel, which you cannot deny is becoming wealthier & more powerful each year, will dominate the Middle East. They are GENERATING wealth, while the Arab is merely pumping it outta the ground.

Would you like for me to tell you about JESUS CHRIST, and why I believe in Him?

him: Not now. Gotta go, nice talking with ya.

I don't have the passges in front of me, but it's possible to go through the Koran and compare what it says about Christ to what is says about Mohammed, and Christ will come out on top.

Now, the Koran is wrong about severy very key things, but it does say, as one example, that Christ did miracles, while Mohammed did not.

http://www.alislam.org/ is the main page, it is a muslim organization site.

What do you think?"

Could be, but if I was doing a website for my anti christian organization, I doubt I would use that sort of thing.

Think I'd stick with the "insidiously" side of things.

Just one item of note from their site:

"Moses prophesied about Hadhrat Muhammad.

"In Deuteronomy 18:17-19, Moses prophesied:

""And the Lord said unto me. They have well spoken that which they have spoken, I will raise them up a prophet from among their brethren like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.""

Interesting that they attribute a prophesy about Christ to Muhammed. I would ask in response to that why they feel that prophesy is not speaking of Jesus who came before Muhammed and would certainly fit the criteria for the prophesy.

robycop3--You were probably talking to a member of the Nation of Islam (NOI), which is quite different from the Islam with which most of us are familiar. There are three major differences:

1. The NOI believes that Allah came to Earth in the person of W.D. Fard a/k/a Wallace Fard Muhammed, and appeared to many in and around the Detroit area in the 1930's. Islam categorically denies that Allah ever came to Earth in human form (thus they deny Christ's deity).
2. The NOI teaches that the Caucasian race was the result of the workings of an evil scientist named Yakub. Islam has no such teaching.
3. Based on #2, NOI believes that the Caucasian race is not worthy of redemption, and thus no attempts should be made to evangelize them. Islam accepts all races into its camp.

Thanx for pointing out those differences. This gent only said he was Moslem, never mentioning the NOI, nor anything about race(I am white). But he still COULDA been a member thereof.

When the NOI had real power, they even intimidated Sonny Liston, and that's a highly-suspected reason that he may have taken a dive against Mohammed Ali in their 2nd fight.(I don't remember if he was going by Ali or Cassius X at the time.)

Been living here in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for about 14 years now; I almost finished reading the English Version of the Qur'an.

One thing I can share with you (no intention to veer off the discussion) is about the Islam itself. They (Muslims) claim it is a religion of peace. To tell you frankly, there is peace only if you accept their teachings and doctines, and if not, there would be schism, division and war.

It's a CULT!

In the Liston fights he went by Ali, he did that shortly after becoming pro. Ali was strongly influenced by NOI but he may have later converted to orthodox Islam.

Who did Abraham offer as a sacrific on Mt Moriah? Isaac? Bzzzz. Wrong. Thank you for playing.

The Koran says Ishmael.

Many of the Koranic stories are identical to the Biblical text, only with minor details changed. Like Ishmael for Isaac, or Muhammed for Messiah . .

a couple of nights ago, a friend asked me why Christianity, instead of all the other religion believing in a God that is different.

i guess the best answer for that would be Jesus Christ's resurrection.

that miracle solved the problem of men being sinners.

that miracle pointed to something that only a true God can perform.

and finally, that miracle, if it's only a hoax, would make all christians the most miserable of all!

That is because Islam was created as a reaction to Christianity. Muhammed hated Jews and felt threatened politically and culturally by Christianity, so he created Islam. He was an extremely cruel and violent man who excpanded his personal power through religious intimidation.

Few Christians realize that Muslims consider "Abraham" their Father as well Jews.

And that Ishmael, as the "FIRST BORN" was entitled to the "BIRTHRIGHT".

Osama Bin Laden made this comment in regards to the above:

We want our inheritance back.

They consider the Jews as having "STOLE" the birthright from them.

This is one of the reasons for their intense hatred of Israel.

And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him. (Genesis 17:19)

But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year. (Genesis 17:21)

Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac. (Genesis 21:10)

And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called. (Genesis 21:12)

And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. (Genesis 22:2)

And, behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land whereon thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed; (Genesis 28:13)

I don't think I need to go on any further. The Koran is not God's Word. God's Word said His covenant would be through Isaac not Ishmael. However, God did make a promise to Ishmael:

And the angel of the LORD said unto her, Behold, thou art with child, and shalt bear a son, and shalt call his name Ishmael; because the LORD hath heard thy affliction. And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren. (Genesis 16:11-12)

And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation. (Genesis 17:20)

But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year. (Genesis 17:21)

This is why I believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for my salvation.
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)

There is no salvation in Islam.
