Why is it that people will talk about, and give their opinion about, anything under the sun except for the gospel. You can have a perfectly nice conversation with someone, but the minute you say anything about heaven & hell, death, Jesus Christ, or salvation, suddenly people put up a huge brick wall and accuse Christians of "shoving their religion down their throat."
My 15-year old dd had a conversation with our neighbor this morning. They talked about sports, which turned to the death of a coach, and which led to her asking him about his beliefs of heaven and hell, etc. He got mad and told her off and among other things, told her she needed to learn to "be respectful" and keep her beliefs to herself.
Since when is it "disrespectful" to ask someone what they believe and then say a Bible verse about what you believe? It's perfectly respectful to ask about your favorite ball team or sports person or brand of booze or vehicle preference. What's the difference?
I get so sick of this mentality. It's okay for the atheists to shove THEIR beliefs on our school children. It's okay for the pagans, Muslims, and every other religion under the sun to converse and "tolerate" each other, but somehow, Christianity doesn't get the same tolerance? Other beliefs don't offend and cause such a hateful response, but the mere mention of the cross of Christ offends greatly. Why is that?
