Why so down on Peaceful KJVO?

I joined this site about 7 months ago, but made my first posts today. I've a great love for the KJV and I'm what many would call a KJVO, I don't think you have to read the KJV to be saved, but believe it to be 100% without error the true Word of God.

I not looking for an agruement here, but if one comes, it comes. Just curious why most Christians sites seem to attack anyone with view like mine. Yes I understand some people bring it upon themselves, but seen many get attacked for no apparent reasons.

There is no condemnation for anyone who holds the KJV position for themselves. The issue comes when those who hold that position attack other translations and claim that they are less than the word of God. No one is down on anyone who is truly KJVO and at the same time respects the views of others.

It is the elevation of a personal choice to the level of Biblical doctrine that is at the root of the conflict.

Praise God for your choice. You can be fully assured that God will feed and bless you as you read and study His word in the translation you have chosen. It is a fine old version which has blessed the western world for almost 400 years!

Well, I'm down on those who truly hold to a KJVO stance. I do not respect their view at all. You did say KJVO. You didn't say KJVP. If someone is really a KJVO he/she does not respect the view of non-KJVO 'ers. Perhaps the poster who started this thread needs to clarify his view. Then we will be better able to judge his perception of how the BB judges the behaviour of this forum.

I'm not down on it. I just don't understand it knowing what I know about the source texts. I don't think its any more the word of God than any other english translation.

Logos, what do you base your belief on? Do you think that any deviation from the KJV in a modern translation is a "perversion"? Do you think it is important for people to understand what God through the Bible reveals, or is it more important that archaic language is preserved?

The KJV is written in beautiful and the poetry reads like poetry. Would anyone claim that the NASB or NIV is beautiful English? The KJV will always be read for the same reasons that Shakespeare will be read. I have been told that the KJV and Shakespeare translate beautifully in every human language.

On the other hand, unless the KJVO young people/young adults are much better read than the the kids who are are graduating these days they will not understand what they are reading.

Then chuck the KJV and take up the Greek. I mean, since ignorance is no excuse and all.

Elevating the KJV to "perfection" (KJVO's word, not mine) is to make the KJV an idol. Last time I checked God said we are to have no idols before Him. The originals were not written in Jacobean English nor were they written by a bunch of baby baptizing Anglicans who were little more than RCC copycats.

While "ignorance is not an excuse", neither is the "willful ignorance" of the KJVO.

I use the NASB in almost all of my posts - but lately I am beginning to find errors between NASB and KJV - and more and more I am thinking that the KJVO guys with their arguments about the textus receptus vs sinaticus and vaticanus - have some good points when it comes to manuscripts.

Wow, my old buddy, Trotter. Just jump right in cannonball style, why don't you. To equate someone's faith in what version they use as engaging in idolatry is ludicrous. Does your version speak to you, console you, counsel you? There is no new revelation, therefore the Bible we hold in our hands is God's Word, is it not? I believe that about mine. I'm sorry that you do not have one among the many choices that you could make among them that ministers to you. Do they all cause you to believe something like, "if I put my faith in it, I am an idolater," or just the KJV?

Yeah, I came on a bit strong, didn't I? My bad. It's been a very long day.

Someone who is KJVP or even KJVO but but has no problem with others using a different translation is just fine with me. But when a KJVO starts disrespecting God's word by ripping any other translation as being less, or even denying that any other translation is not fully God's word or is corrupt... well, the gloves come off. Personal conviction is one thing, but trying to teach a man-made doctrine to others, or trying to force said doctrine, bypassing the turning of either cheek.

I can stand a lot of things but non-biblical doctrine is not one of them.

No, your post didn't come across that way. The phrase jumped out at me as I have heard the same argument used by some strident KJVOs.

It's been a long one, but I landed a job today so it will be getting better. Thanks.

So now the KJV has become your gold standard. antung that is rendered differenly,such as the NASB must be in error. Is that your stance?
