    Squire,

You are a scholar and a gentleman indeed. I would say with our lovely Lord Christ, "thou hast well said. . . ." Your answers above, to me, shows that you are a man of wisdom who thinks through his own position with the realization he could be might be wrong and even may need to make some course corrections. I am proud to call you "colleague."

    Be blest today.

Most of the IFB's I know are not 5 pointers. They don't believe the limited atonement point. I'm sure you have heard the arguments about that. Just because we don't have a fixation on reformers that borders upon worship and don't keep using the word "sola"does not mean we don't believe in salvation by faith alone. The IFB's still believe in Eph 2:8-9

Shall I start claiming that because the SBC seminaries had a majority of teachers that didn't believe in inspiration, virgin birth and other vital doctrines "they lost the gospel" because they did. When the hero of the SBC, Billy Grahm had opportunities to preach a clear gospel and but instead used used vague terms like "come forward and make a commitment" "they lost the gospel".

Billy Graham has always preached a clear message of the gospel. He has always called people to repentance. Not sure where these lies about him come from but it is evil, slander, and just plain not true.

I love Billy Graham. I am annoyed at the Calvinists in the convention.

    Bro. Reynolds,

Please tell me why you are annoyed with the Calvinists?

The new breed of Calvinists in particular. They seem to feel it their duty to persecute Non-Calvinists. They have a particular nastiness about them, many going so far as to require adherence to Calvinism as a condition of ones salvation.

On the other hand, I came back to the SBC from the United Methodists. They are long ready for a Conservative Resurgence of their own, but given their episcopal polity, I doubt they'll ever get it without giving up the United part.
(Full disclosure: I'm a Baptist that served a UMC church in exile as songleader and lay preacher. The current foment within the UMC made my wife (raised a General Baptist) and me think about returning to our Baptist faith.)

After many decades of frothy liberals allowing anything that seems right to be a theology in the universities and seminaries, it would seem like Calvinists come on strong.

But, of those Calvinistic thinking that I have met, not one has been intolerant of a brother who is honestly open to discussion and not hostile.

Unlike evidenced on the BB, face to face discussions between cal and non-Cal are for the most part cordial. More often, that cooperation spills into genuine respect and sharing.

What typically happens is some fanatical non-Cal blusters and foams in the offensive thinking they are God’s gift to correcting folks of error, and they become so hostile it spreads like warm sticky honey so that everyone is in need of soap.
