Why would Paul tell Christians not to do sins they are incapable of doing?

when you say this you are saying that a sin is paid for twice. First Jesus's blood covers it never to be remembered and lo and behold, when it happens, He does remember it and takes your life. That kind of theology is just not Bible. Sorry Tim.

Show me where anyone has said that we can justify any sin? We believe all the scriptures that we have an advocate with God if we commit a sin which is not unto death.

What I hate is to be accused of something I did not do or say. I have enough trouble with what I do say and do.

Does He take you out before or after you do the vile sin? Why would you fear being taken out? You're bound for heaven, right?

One of my favorite songs goes like this:

You hear me when I'm calling,
Lord You catch me when I'm falling,
You have told me who I am.

    I am Yours.

I had a pastor and the dean of the Bible college I attended both tell me that "There is no sin committed by unsaved people that Christians cannot commit." When we think that we are incapable of commiting any sin, that is the time we WILL do it. I know that from personal experience, a lesson I would just as soon not have learned.

That happens when we don't examine ourselves, or if we do we don't judge ourselves, and continue on in sin without confessing it.

    1 Cor 11.
30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.

Well, the pastor must of known you better than you knew yourself.
It has never happened to me and I say that a lot.

I hope you realize what you are saying and that is Jesus said He would not remember your sin, then when you commit it, He does remember it. hmmmmm I not going that route.

That's one of my favorite songs also..
And the writer of the song is the one that I quoted yesterday...
MArk Hall says, Sinners don't mind that Christians sin, they mind when Christians act like they don't.

And I don't mind going to Heaven... I just don't want to go right now!!

Really? You WILL do ANY sin? Do you watch the news? Do you see all the disgusting things people do to children? Would you REALLY do those things?

I never said Christians don't sin. I just don't believe that God allows us to fall as far as you think He does.

I was quoting Jon Marc. He said "will".
So, you're saying you CAN commit any sin, you just choose not to. Why do you think that is? God is your Father and He put His Spirit in you. He's not there just to keep you company. He does His job as a good Father.

Throughout Scripture we see God allowing His to fall pretty far! A man after God's heart...the "apple of God's eye" was a murderer and adulterer.

I'll tell you one thing, If we were debating in person and you insinuated that I might be molesting my sweet little daughter, I'd probably dot your eye.

I wouldn't have hurt a child before I was saved!

That doesn't mean I was incapable. And being capable doesn't mean I will. That is the most backwards reasoning I have ever encountered.

I'd report you to the moderators but you're brazen enough to have already engaged one (DHK) with the same bile. I'm through with debating you until you can come up with something less offensive to "prove" your point.

Does a good father keep their child from only doing some things, but winking at others? If it's God's job in keeping us from doing these "sins unto (second) death", why can't He keep us from doing the rest? Is sin more powerful than God...or is man responsible? Stating that God keeps true believers from commiting certain sin, is in essence saying we are not held responsible or accountable for those sins.

We are now down to threatening physical violence, of which is against the BB rules. Don't worry, I have no intentions of reporting you. The scriptures have whipped you into the ground so you turn to threats and accuseing me of just repeating things you have said you are capable of.

Again, show where I accuse you. As far as dotting my eye, right now you probably get away with it for I am not doing too well. I don't think a Christian settles a debate that way either,IMO

What do you think you just said. You are mad at yourself for saying such things and its eating at your soul. Ask God to forgive you and I am sure He will.

Report me to the moderator for repeating what has been said by those you defend, come on don't be so pettish.

Eze 18:24¶But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, [and] doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked [man] doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.

You are mad because the scriptures always show you to be wrong. I really don't blame you too much for I am convinced you were raised that way under that kind of belief and now can't get away from it.

I went back and checked this entire thread and found where I even mentioned your name and that was one time. Other than that I never even posted to you at all, so your accusations are warrantless.

Maybe Lacy can help you he is humoreous today.

I found this in another thread and so far is all I can find. I think you should produce proof that I said those things about you other than you saying you were capable.

A lot has happened since yesterday but I checked all the posts and can't find any harsh debates between you and I Lacy Evans.

accusations without truths are false statements.

    Bob,

It is utterly impossible for these to be unsaved he is speaking to, for how can unsaved persons grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom they are sealed for the day of redemption? Answer - the unsaved are not indwelled so he is clearly speaking to Christians.

You have a big big big problem here you are just glossing over my friend. How can Christians grieve the Holy Spirit by doing this things if you say they can't?

This passage is a death blow to your position - and remember, Paul only mentions falsehood, stealing, rage, bitterness, brawling and slander -but then he sums it up with "every form of malice".

I think we can move on to other subjects now.

Please reread what I wrote before misquoting me. I did NOT say that we WILL commit any sin, but that we CAN. Actually, I'm not the one who said that; I was quoting someone else.

God says not to think more highly of ourselves than we ought. When we say we are incapable of commiting any particular sin, we are placing ourselves on a higher level than other people. That is pride and a lie of the devil.

Yes, we are born again and are in God's family, but we still have our sin nature (unfortunately) and COULD give in to ANY temptation if we take our eyes off of Christ and put them on ourselves or the world around us--just as Peter took his eyes off of Jesus on the water and began to sink. Peter was OK as long as he looked at Jesus, but the moment he quit looking at Him and looked at his circumstances he sank. That CAN happen to us when we stop trusting in the Lord and start trusting in our own "goodness", or if we look at our circumstances and begin to doubt as Peter did.

The religious "leaders" in Jesus' day were the Pharisees, and they thought they were above everyone else. Jesus called them hypocrites and told them they were of their father the devil in John 8:44. If you have reached the point where you say, "I am incapable of doing that", you could be in for a fall. I've been there and done that. Pro. 16:18 says, "Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall."
