Why would the Pope kiss the Quran?

If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck....it's a duck.

It looks like the Gospels; it looks like an Eastern Patriarch; it must be the Gospels and an Eastern Patriarch.

Your point?

But you people show him kissing a book and want us to jump all over him because of your hatred of the man.
I have never said I hated the pope, to the contrary I have always had a respect for him as I was taught in my catholic family growing up.

Kate B.

"I have never said I hated the pope, to the contrary I have always had a respect for him as I was taught in my catholic family growing up. "

I find this to be an odd sort of respect that you are willing to convict the man of what many would consider scandalous behavior without a trial just so you can make a point on this board that us Catholics are a bunch of blind zombies. I have read your posts and your attitude has been "he did it and you Catholics won't admit it" from the get go.

Well you know something Kate. I do think that JP II is a very holy man who has dedicated his life to God. I think that looking back on his life people will truly realize how great a man he was when he is gone. But if it turns out tommorrow that he did very serious sins, it won't change my faith in Jesus Christ and the Church that he left on this earth. That is because the institution is not dependent on JP II being a perfect human being, which he is not. The guy goes to confession more often than I do. He sins. Certainly not murder but he may from time to time get irratated and think a bad thought about a Bishop who isn't teaching the true faith. My faith does not depend on him.

Blessings.

How about his refusal to acknowledge the pedophile problem ? Where does that fit in in the "degree of sin" category ?

You'll believe everything you read in the evening news, won't you, Brother Curtis.

Open your eyes, Grant.
Always there to make me look like a bad guy, right Brother?

You said this: "How about his refusal to acknowledge the pedophile problem ?"

And now you have changed your stance to this: "Of, there are no pedophile priests?"

Not the same issue. You can't force words into my mouth that I never said. My response was on your assertion that the pope "refused" to acknowledge the problem. My response in no way was a "refusal" to acknowledge the problem.

Keep twisting those words; eventually, maybe, we'll get back to where we started.

God bless,

Grant

So you make an inflamitory statement, roll your eyes at me, and then tell me to "open my eyes," .......and you call this a joke? Where was the punchline?

How about, instead of joking about pedophilia (which you apparently take seriously; why would you be joking now?) you acknowledge that your statement of the Pope REFUSING to acknowledge the problem bears no weight? But that's really wishful thinking on my part, isn't it?

God bless,

Grant
