Why You Should Be in God's House on the Lord's Day

Why should you come together into one place in God's house on this Lord's Day with the whole church (1 Cor. 14:23)?

Because God wants all the church to be edified (1 Cor. 14:3, 5, 12, 26), exhorted (1 Cor. 14:3), and comforted (1 Cor. 14:3, 31)!

Because God wants all the church to learn (1 Cor. 14:31)!

Be in God's house with all the church in one place this Lord's Day to be edified, exhorted, comforted, and taught!

Watching a service online or listening to a message in some other setting than in-person in God's house is not the same thing as being in God's house on His Day.

There are two Greek words there, in a prepositional phrase with the preposition ἐν. Here is the full phrase: ἐν τῇ κυριακῇ ἡμέρᾳ. The word κυριακος originally "pertaining to the lord," or "imperial," referring to the first day of the month in the Roman emperor's (the "lord") calendar. The second word meant simply "day." So, Christians adapted the phrase to mean the first day of the week when we worship our Lord Jesus Christ, because that's the day of the week when He rose. This was a common term for Sunday in the early church. That is historical fact.
