Noticing a woman is not adultery by a long shot. Adultery is not just the act in reality, but lusting after a woman in one's heart.

Lusting is coveting or desiring that which one does not have or does not belong to one.

Noticing one is pretty does not constitute lusting, although if one dwells on the woman's beauty for too long, it could lead to one lusting after her.

    Helen;
You are trying to have it both ways. First you say there are sins you find it hard to believe that a Christian would commit. Now you are suggesting "adultery in the heart". You must make up your mind. You are quoting a few scriptures but none of you answer all the scriptures that say a person committing such acts cannot see the Kingdom of Heaven, or "all liars" will have their part in the lake. Or "such were some of you, but you been washed in the blood of the lamb". Have you been washed in the blood of the Lamb or are like some of the others and if you been washed in the blood, then you have a "ticket" to commit all these adultereous acts.

Answer the scriptures, don't make up excuses for people to sin. I saw a woman die with so much fear on her that she shook, for she had been an adultereous all her life. I don't know where she went to, but I can tell you this I would not of wanted to die in her place. And one thing for sure, I am not going to teach this world of mankind that if you get the blood, then its ok for you to be a homosexual, for it already paid for, so don't you worry about it. Hogwash!!!

Here is the definition for Lust DHK and Helen.

If anyone is admitting to being a liar I would advise you to repent of it before its too late for "all liars have their part in the Lake". Not Bro. Bob's words, but the Word of the Lord.

If a Christian can willfully commit sin, then John must have been lying when he said,

Those verses kind of sound like they teach sinless perfection in a Christians life. That simply is not true.

Bro. Bob, Christians do sin, but not as a style of life. There have been times when you have done unrighteoussness, I know it. So have I. But if God is our Father, then He brings us back to Himself. If we walk off the narrow path, He picks us up and puts us on it again. He that began a good work in us, will continue it.

I've commited a lot of sin, so I'm gonna be voting yes, that we can commit all types of grievous sins, but as I said, it will not be a style of life.

    God Bless,
    Andy

of course Christians still commit sins....even ones that make our jaws drop. Have you walked into a church lately? If you want to know the best way to see the character of many Christians.....work in customer service in any Christian setting, may it be a school or a business. You'll find out a lot. If that won't show you....go to church, you'll see a lot there too. Christians aren't perfect in actuality, only declared righteous because of Jesus.

    Brother Bob,
Jesus pointed out that the sin originates in the heart, perhaps long before the act. We have ALL sinned in our hearts. ALL of us.

What I have a hard time with is those who are indwelt by the Holy Spirit who follow that sin through to completion in the act. If I am not mistaken, that is, in large part, what you have been trying to say, too, is it not?

It is not 'having things both ways' at all. It is simply understanding what Jesus said.

Of course we sin but if you find yourself in adultery or homosexuality to use a few, then I would advise you to start praying and repent and be born of God.

    1John 5:
16: If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
17: All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
18: We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
19: And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
20: And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
21: Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

    Helen;
I am saying that which is born of God where the indwelling Holy Spirit of God is cannot sin. The part which is "born again",

where the blood is. I am also saying that the outward part is kept by the inward part which is stronger than that which is in

the world and he cannot do the sins unto death. Why? first he was saved by the Grace of God, second, he is kept by the Grace

of God. Where Jesus said, my Grace is suffecient to keep thee and for your temptation, I will make a way for your escape. In

other words, you may be tempted, outwardly but you will not carry out the act or lend your members to commit such an act.

You have to know that the scripture teaches there is an inward man and there is an outward man. If you do not understand

this concept, you will never understand the scriptures. Or else, how can John say in on scripture "he that sayeth he hath no

sin is a liar and the truth is not in him" which is to the outward man, then John turns right around and says "that which is born

of God cannot sin". These scriptures were not put in the Bible to take up space, but have a real meaning and its up to us to

come up with the answers with the help of the Good Lord. Now if you realize there is an inward man and an outward man then

you will understand what Paul meant when He said in the flesh dwelleth no good thing. Also, I delight in the Law after the

inward man (where the mind of Christ is and the indwelling Spirit of God). God help us to never say that which hath the

indwelling Spirit of God committeth adultery.

OK, our flesh is certainly not born again. Therefore the flesh can sin, right?

But Jesus said sin originates in the heart. Isn't it the heart that is supposed to be born again?

And if a man says he does not sin, we read in John, that man is a liar....

There is the "carnal mind" /heart of which cannot serve God and where dwelleth no good thing. You are trying to put the sin orginating where the Holy Spirit dwells, and then there is the mind of Christ of which if you born again you are supposed to have.
Yes the flesh can sin but is kept by the power of God to where it don't lend its members to be a homosexual for instance. So, according to John, I did not lie for I have admitted that I can sin outwardly.
Only difference is I don't believe I can sin a sin unto death. I don't think God will let me. I believe He would take my life first.

He said, "for this cause many sleep" and that was for taking the communion unworthy.

I have not read all the replies to this post. The one point that I want to make is this, we had better thank God for His grace, because it is only by His grace that we are not such as those you describe.

What if a very Godly man had served God all his life with his wife. Everything was fine. One day the wife woke up and decided that she was tired of the life she had lived and wanted a divorce. She got a divorce. The woman had a chemical imbalance in her brain that caused her to be a completely different person than she was the day before. This happens often today... it is called bi polar or manic depression. There are other mental illnesses that are caused by chemical imbalances, which result in the person being someone totally different than what they were.

It is by God's grace that we are who we are. It is somehow by His purpose or design that things that do not seem good somehow work out for the good.... although we can not see good in them at the time.

I believe that sin is simply falling short of the glory (or perfection) of God. I think we all do that daily. That is MHO. Take it with a glass of water.

Thanks everyone for your posts. I know that we've been through this before and I agree that all sin can be forgiven. I also believe that we will all die with some unconfessed sin that is still covered by the blood of Christ. But what has been bothering me about this subject is this....I know that we still sin as Christians, but there are certain sins that I just have a hard time believing that a Christian (born again, indwelt by the Spirit) can commit. We seem to be hung up on adultery and lust, but what about really horrible (adultery is horrible too) sins like molesting a child. I don't see how a born again believer can do such a thing. And if he can't or won't molest a child, why would he commit adultery? Can a born again believer commit murder? Like Helen pointed out, these sins require planning ahead, thinking it out. It's not like snapping at my husband because I'm in a bad mood. (which I never do :))I'm not talking about things like that. Adultery doesn't just happen accidentally. It happens over a period of time and requires ignoring the Holy Spirit many times as He convicts. Is it possible that a child molester can be a born again Christian? What about rape? I just can't believe a child of God would do these things. If we commit these sins, then it seems we are no better off having God's Spirit living in us.

They can't do those things because they are kept by the Grace of God. The Grace of God and the Blood of the Lamb don't conflict each other for they both are the "Love of God".

I really dreaded getting into this again but who knows, maybe it was needful. If it made you start thinking then maybe it makes others do the same.

If I sound too defensive, I don't mean to offend at all. I just feel strongly about it.

Thanks for putting up with me Bob. I did start thinking after the last discussion and I know there is always room to learn. I don't ever want to be so arrogant as to think I know it all.

Arent the outward acts just symptoms of the inward problem? Name the act -
    adultery (selfishness)
    lying (selfishness)
    stealing (selfishness)
    homosexuality (selfishness)

The common denominator we see in sin is what makes ME feel good or think I feel good. Jesus taught us where to fix our gaze. When we lose that focus, we may fall into any kind of sin. I will never again say that I will never do "that". Sure, I dont "think" I will, but why am I exempt? I am a selfish human being with just as much a sin nature as anyone else.

Brother Bob it's impossible to be sin free. The bible compared looking at a women with lust to adultry and anger as equalint to murder. How then can anyone who is honest be justified by any other way than the blood of Jesus. To say you havent got angry before or lusted in your heart for a women is impossible because we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
Sorry Bob but you forgot to add the rest of the verse where it says adulters will not inherit heaven. "And such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our God." (I CORINTHIANS 6:11)
Unless Jesus was lien' he did say that he will be no means cast you out. And those in his hands are under the care of Father God. "Believe and thou shall be saved" "Believe on him and by no means will you be put to shame" "For God so loved the world he gave his only begotten son, whosoever believes in him SHALL NOT perish but have everlasting life"
Unless God was lien' he didnt say believe but live pure lives or you will be cast into the lake of fire. The bible also says the ungodly are justified by his blood to all who believe in Christ... Lets stop trying to be self-righeous and think straight the truth is SALVATION is a gift not something that is earned if it is earned I should be gloried for my obedience not God; But it is a gift not something we earn or deserve. We obey christ so we can live victorious christian lives and be rewarded for such not to earn or keep salvation!...LETS STOP TRING TO DENY THAT CHRIST's BLOOD FULLY JUSTIFY's US and that he has paid the FULL price of sin of the world. Else according to your theory Bob Jesus would need to keep dien' on the cross..Now wouldnt he? “to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is reckoned as righteousness” (Romans 4:5).
“Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered; 8 blessed is the man against whom the Lord will not count his sin.” (Romans 4:1-8 ESV)
