Will Dr. Carson's questions about Trumps faith, hurt either of them?

I found it quite interesting that Dr. Carsons responded to reporter's questions about his faith and Trump's to take the time to draw comparisons and even criticize Trump!

Knowing the voters, at least based on past elections, they tend to shy away from those candidates who get too religious, especially quoting Scripture, and discussing their being "born-again!" I am not saying a candidate shouldn't discuss their faith, but America seems little interested in the man or women of faith as much as they do about being able to do the job! This is truly a shame, but it is also a fact!

It is a mystery, that in a nation where more than 70% of the people polled claim to be Christian, that we can't get that 70% to come out and vote the faith on election day?! If these folks were truly Christians, a faith spouting man or woman should win by a landslide!

I guess time and polls will tell, if Dr. Carson hurt himself, or helped himself today! I was wondering what you folks think?

As a side question, I can't seem to find what church Dr. Carson is affiliated with? I heard it was SDA, but not sure! If anyone knows, I'd appreciate your assistance! :flower:

But I will NOT vote on Faith alone.

Lets face it - Clinton and Carter were both Southern Baptist -

It should be noted that the DOC and Presby churches tend to be very liberal.

I think Carson's comments will HELP both campaigns.

The GOP electorate is sick and tired of the usual politicians. That's why Trump, Carson, and Fiorina are doing well in the polls. They're not politicians. Anything Trump and Carson say to their base will help them in the polls.

Trump has already disparaged Carson for his comments. He said "he's been a doctor, perhaps an OK doctor", typical Trump drivel that says nothing but makes him seem as if he is saying something. Right up there with "I'm the best negotiator", "make America great again", "I'll create more jobs than anyone", "I'll make Mexico pay for a wall", etc.

Trump also went after Carly Fiorina. "Look at that face!" Trump reportedly told Rolling Stone while talking about Fiorina, according to a profile published Wednesday "Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that, the face of our next president?!"

An aside about Reagan--I came out of the Disciples of Christ, Alexander Campbell. They were not liberal historically and in rural Indiana they were conservative. Their weakness is that they do not have a doctrinal statement; however, it is true that they are generally liberal nowadays but I do know of a conservative church in the county seat. As for the Presbyterians, I think that Carson Blake was their downfall. They, too, used to be conservative when I was a child but now they are uber liberal--I am talking about PCUSA, not the others.

As for the 7DA, I think that they have to be examined almost congregation by congregation, but I have met many of them who truly love Jesus. Dr. Cory Servas, whose late husband purchased the Saturday Evening Post here in Indianapolis, represents them very well. I think Kellogg was one also. They are noted for their emphasis on healthy diet.

As for Trump, he is a nominal member of an historic church, as I understand it, but it seems strange that he is a casino owner--if indeed he is a casino owner. Nevertheless, he has fought the press and the establishment GOP armed with his schooling at the Wharton School of Finance and he has schooled the others in how to stand up and win, so I applaud him for that. The fact that he enlisted the aid of Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions speaks volumes and shows the seriousness of Trump's plan to address a major concern of the common man, who, as you know, is burdened with high taxes and high welfare demands from a corrupt and lazy government and population.

Living in Southern California means that I have better odds than most of having a SDA trained doctor and dentist! And the truth is, most of my docs and dentists are SDA's and practicing the faith too! I find them all wonderful people, with a strong belief system, and the only thing different with them and myself is that they worship on Saturday, oh, and they are mostly vegetarians!

Which is funny, because my doctor tells me regarding a healthy diet, if it tastes good, it is bad for you! :laugh: And she is probably right! :thumbs:
