Several words: Some folks consistently accuse our government and, thereby, American policy as being completely wrong in basis, intent, purpose, and action. Yes, I do think that's very "lame" as well as completely unfounded, untrue, and unjust.Originally posted by poncho:

We got involved when we were attacked. Just like 9/11. Before that we were helping Great Britain with supplies. In 1939 there was a second attempt by British appeasers to unseat WSC who was one on the only ones in England who had the ***** to stand up to Hitler. What reason would the U.S. have to enter the war in 1939? </font>[/QUOTE]Britain had a treaty with Poland--we didn't. Even at that, Poland was invaded by both Germany and Russia and was defeated in about a month. It was too fast for anyone to mobilize help in those days. In those days, the USA had a hollow army--you know, the kind of army that liberals like FDR like--and would not have been of much use. However, our industrial might poured into Europe shortly thereafter as Wendell Wilkie defeated the isolationism with the GOP ranks and aided FDR with the gift of a national political consensus. During this current war, you have not seen the Democrats defeat isolationism within the liberal ranks and rally their party to the war effort. Instead you have seen high-ranking Democrats like Durbin call our troops nazis to even the disgust of a machine Democrat like Mayor Daley of Chicago, son of the heavy-handed previous Mayor Daley. The Democrats cannot unite behind the country even after all this time, a lack of unification that was missing in World War II. As for the Constitution Party, they have called this war illegal and called for withdrawal, capitulation, compromise, and defeat of the USA.Originally posted by Ps104_33:
