I'm going to go out on a limb, and say several gay people have given their lives for your freedom. Should you give your freedom back, because it was secured by reprobate minds ?

I wouldn’t advocate gays in the military, nor would I advocate drunks in the military. Unfortunately both exist in the military and our nation.

I think that the military should continue its practice of don’t ask don’t tell. The work place isn’t the appropriate arena to discuss sexual orientation or personal relationships.

Well it would beat some of the other things I've been called.

I wonder how many people calling for gays to be kickedout of the service, have actually served.

    Show of hands, anyone ?

I served, '79-'83, and have absolutely no problem with gays in the military.

    Anyone else ?

Well, I haven't served, but I agree with you.

I have been in the military since 91, and am still active duty. I am opposed to openly admitting gays in the military. As there is no “are you straight” questions, there should be no “are you gay” questions. A service members private life should remain private.

I know of some homosexual soldiers, but they keep their sexual relationships private, like the rest of us heterosexual service members.

I don’t agree with their lifestyles, but I can not think of any case where it became an issue or a distraction from their military duties. Actually, most problems occurred with inappropriate heterosexual conduct.

Well, I am serving right now and hit the 20 year mark next month! And I still have a problem with them serving and always will! However, it is only a matter of time before they serve openly and start receiving extra benefits that will kill the overall morale of the unit.

Congrats on your 20 year mark. I'm only hoping that I can survive another 6 without another Clinton.

Now that's a much different issue. I am 100% against special privileges for anyone. Gays should serve like everyone else does.

BTW, I respect your service greatly, and thank you for it.:applause:

What kind of "special privileges" would a gay member of the military receive?

The freedom my ancestors won, and I now possess a mere echo of, was won by heterosexual Christian men. The freedom that is being taken away, is being taken by homosexualists. If we were to give back everything that the sodomite crowd has given this nation and retain all the things that Christian men have given it, we would be far better off as a nation.

Is the military there to serve itself or to serve the people? Do citizens not have a say in this matter because they have not served?

I agree to a point. The homosexuals are not the problem, they are a symptom of a decline in morality and Christian values. It is this withdrawal from God that is eroding our country.

The military has lost much in the way of discipline and effectiveness due to political correctness. The military is morally degraded compared to what it once was. So is our nation.

I absolutely think that people who don't serve should not have a say.

Does your freedom mean less to you because gays died to secure it ?

Very well. I absolutely think that the military was created to serve the citizens of this nation and citizens should have a voice in who is placed in charge of their security. When the military is in place to serve its own interests or the interests of a master who is not the citizenry and the Constitution, then this entitiy should be dissolved.

The citizens should have a say in who we are giving guns to and they should be individuals given up to a sound mind rather than a depraved one.

The following indented quotes are from Homosexuality and the Nazi Party by Scott Lively

A lack of the citizenry placing a check on these behaviors can lead to the depraved minds of folks such as Gerhard Rossbach...

"Described by historian Robert G. L. Waite as a "sadist, murderer and homosexual," Rossbach was "the most important single contributor of the pre-Hitler youth movement" (Waite,1969:210)."

and institutions such as the Wandervogal (who later became the storm troopers or brown shirts)...

"From early on, however, the Wandervogel was dominated and controlled by the pederasts of the CS. CS co-founder Wilhelm Janzen was its chief benefactor, and its leadership was rife with homosexuality. "

if you think Hitler was bad so was his mentor...

"William Shirer describes Roehm as "a stocky, bull-necked, piggish-eyed, scar- faced professional soldier...[and] like so many of the early Nazis, a homosexual" (Shirer:64).

Folks given up to depraved minds were exactly what Roehm was looking for...

"What was needed, Roehm believed, was a proud and arrogant lot who could brawl, carouse, smash windows, kill and slaughter for the hell of it. Straights, in his eyes, were not as adept in such behavior as practicing homosexuals" (Snyder:55). "

When you see an antichrist filling key positions with known homosexuals it should cause folks to be concerned...

"In addition to Roehm and Hess, two of his closest friends, Hitler filled key positions with known or suspected homosexuals."

Roehm, Goering, Heydrich, Rossbach, and Ernst all sodomites and Hitler, and Himmler were engaged in some pretty freaky stuff themselves. These are not the "men" a civilized republic should desire to have in its military. These are not the men that should have the weaponry and power. It is far better for freedom to have men not given up to a depraved mind to be responsible for the protection of a nation.

Hang in there, Rufus_1611. It is unbelievable that those who call themselves Christian can argue as they do in this thread. I suppose they lay Romans 1:26-28 aside so that they can lay with their argument. The last line of your scripture reference should read, "gave them over to abominations", when abomination is properly understood as filth.

None of us has the option to ignore NT scripture.

As soon as you show me where the N.T. is referenced in our oath, you'll have a point.

And that is "our" oath, not yours.

I suggest anyone not wanting gays in the military join themselves, and take the billet away.
