What is a test for God’s Word.
“21 You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the Lord?” 22 If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously, so do not be alarmed. Deuteronomy 18
What if it all comes true? Then it was prophetic and he was prophet of God preaching His Word.
Wisdom 2:12-20
“Let us lie in wait for the righteous man,
because he is inconvenient to us and opposes our actions;
he reproaches us for sins against the law,
and accuses us of sins against our training.
13 He professes to have knowledge of God,
and calls himself a child of the Lord.
14 He became to us a reproof of our thoughts;
15 the very sight of him is a burden to us,
because his manner of life is unlike that of others,
and his ways are strange.
16 We are considered by him as something base,
and he avoids our ways as unclean;
he calls the last end of the righteous happy,
and boasts that God is his father.
17 Let us see if his words are true,
and let us test what will happen at the end of his life;
18 for if the righteous man is God’s son, he will help him,
and will deliver him from the hand of his adversaries.
19 Let us test him with insult and torture,
that we may find out how gentle he is,
and make trial of his forbearance.
20 Let us condemn him to a shameful death,
for, according to what he says, he will be protected.”
Everything here is prophetic of Jesus like Isaiah 53.
“Let us lie in wait for the righteous man,
because he is inconvenient to us and opposes our actions;
he reproaches us for sins against the law,
and accuses us of sins against our training.”
Jesus did do this, He accused them of being hypocrites that did not practice what they preached.
——.
“He professes to have knowledge of God,
and calls himself a child of the Lord.”
Jesus did this as well.
“All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”
——.
“He became to us a reproof of our thoughts”
Jesus did this as well.
“Jesus knew what they were thinking and asked, “Why are you thinking these things in your hearts?”
——.
“the very sight of him is a burden to us,
because his manner of life is unlike that of others,
and his ways are strange.”
Jesus showed this as well. Jesus lived what He preached, in contrast to the teachers of the law, this was strange.
“because he taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law.”
——.
“We are considered by him as something base,
and he avoids our ways as unclean;”
Jesus did this as well.
“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others.”
——.
“he calls the last end of the righteous happy,
and boasts that God is his father.”
Jesus did these as well,
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
“This was why the Jews were seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God.” John 5:18
— —.
“Let us see if his words are true,
and let us test what will happen at the end of his life;
18 for if the righteous man is God’s son, he will help him,
and will deliver him from the hand of his adversaries.”
Jesus was tested this way.
“And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.”
— —.
“Let us test him with insult and torture,
that we may find out how gentle he is,
and make trial of his forbearance.”
Jesus was tortured and put on trial.
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
——.
“Let us condemn him to a shameful death,
for, according to what he says, he will be protected.”
Jesus was condemned to a shameful death.
“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising or scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2
“He saved others; he cannot save himself. He is the King of Israel; let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him.”
The prophecy of Wisdom is detailed and accurate and fits the test of Deuteronomy for God’s Word, so why don’t protestants accept it. It all came true, in every detail perfectly.
