No. I call the local witch doctor to come over and dance around and shake magic dust all over the place. :rolleyes:

Very unnecessary remark, Thankful, IMO.

Since you refuse to even consider my points, I will leave this thread alone.

One last thing:
Christine, I would advise you to find a church in which the pastor does not single out the unsaved and bring attention to them in front of the whole congregation. It is detrimental to your child's spiritual health; it may drive her further away and make it more difficult for you to reach her.

Adios, amigos. [IMG]

Baptist Believer, your comment about church kids brought back memories. [IMG] My parents would always let me go to the parties at the Methodist Preacher's Kid's House. These were the wildest parties I ever went to. [IMG]

It is if I really misunderstood your statement. The way I understand it,

You are saying trust God to take care of this matter and if it is His will, let her become "ill" with witchcraft.

Then do you trust God to cure your child without a doctor's care?

Yes! I forgot to comment on that! Yes....you should find another church, after commenting to your Pastor this is wrong!

Oops, double post. It seems that sometimes a post travels a while before it settles. :(

I agree with you, Wiz, that we must trust God in all things.

</font>
I totally agree with Wizofoz and Sherrie. This is a very strange practice and I would be uncomfortable with it.

And, Wizofoz, please don't leave on my account. AS you pointed out, I must have misunderstood your stand on this.

</font>
Ok, you pulled me back one last time.

When a child becomes ill (with witchcraft, sickness, whatever), we have to do all in our power to help the child recover from said illness. Trusting God to help us make the right decisions is part of it.
No, I wouldn't "let" my child become sick, just as Christine shouldn't "let" her daughter go into witchcraft. That is not what I said at all.

Did you read that part of my post?

I trust God will help me make the right decision as to which doctor I would take my child to.
The bottom line: Trust God, no matter what happens.

Once again, all reservoir!! [IMG]

I have read all of your advise, and this is what I chose to do. I brought up the subject and asked why she would be studying witchcraft. Then I asked her if she didn't understand, that it was evil. At first she tried to act like she had just asked for information. However, I have a parental program which actually takes snapshots of the screen every 60 seconds (so I knew it wasn't true). I told her so, and then she said they had not taught her anything bad yet. I did tell her that if she felt the need to hide it, then deep down she knew it was bad. I reminded her that she asked the woman "would it be hypocritical if I dedicated myself and still went to a christian church?" I basically told her that , this question in itself should tell her that they were opposites. If something is not good, it's bad!
I erased all of her files, email and communication about it, and blocked the email addresses to this site. I warned her that if I caught her even talking about it I would have the internet cutoff. I did tell her that this was not a "control thing", or a power struggle, but that I had to do this because it was probably the most important thing I had ever said no to.
See I am over protective, she has only been "out" once, to bowling for 1 1/2 hrs. and once to a girlfriends house (parents there) for 2 hrs.
She's never even spent the night with anyone.
Any friends she has is at school. She has never been on a date.
She's probably the most perfect child anyone could want, straight "A"'s, soft spoken, obedient (usually) and giving. However, she seems to think , as she says "you're a control freak". So this is why I did not want to approach it as "just one more thing, that I want to control".
I had to find a way to let her know that it was about God and not about me. She seemed to accept what I said.
Last night she had a questionaire from school, which required the parent to give opinions (my view of her). She was to compare them with her opinion of herself. When she asked if I considered her honest and trustworthy, I said "No". She was quit upset (hurt). She was on the verge of crying, and wanted to know why I would ever say such a thing. I told her it was because I could trust her anymore (because of the witchcraft). She had hid it and that's the same a lying and sneaking. She was crushed. But I think I got the point accross.

Good for you Christine, putting a stop to this before it got too out of hand. Now keep a watch for it creeping back in, if she really wants this she'll find a way to do it.

Good job, Christine. Sounds like you have a wonderful daughter and that she will listen to you. I understand about being overprotective.
I know I was.

Be sure to tell her how proud you are of her good points. Hopefully, she was just curious and will forget about witchcraft.

Amen!

But please keep her in fervent prayer regarding this situation. The evil one does not want anyone to slip away and he and his minions will be at work.

Good work!

Very good Christine! I agree with everyone else. We do need to keep her in prayer.

Maybe my view is skewed since I'm only 18, but....I would be VERY careful not to just reject wiccan "out of hand," it makes you look ignorant and old fashioned. Look into Wicca, find out what it really is, use the links Helen gave you. TEACH your daughter the truth about Wicca. Don't just slam the door, it will make her more curious. Open the door wide so that she can see the reality behind Wicca.

Jonathan, that is how the 'world' would have us raise our children... but scripture tells us about wicca and other sinful things:

The ONLY explanation and reference Christine should use is the Holy Bible... not anything that 'better explains' witchcraft and satans' wiles.

It's hard being a parent and most of the time it seems we're being mean. Sorry, but God's word is the only authority we need.

Diane , I see your point that the Bible is sufficient for refuting the claims of the occult. Once the Bible is contrary to an idea that SHOULD settle it. However, Jonathan makes a very good point. Just because you and I are quickly convinced that Wiccan theology is false doesn't mean that a 15 girl is as quickly convinced. She needs to see specifically WHERE Wiccan ideas are wrong, otherwise it is like the old saying, "A man convinced against his will, is unconvinced still."

Jonathan, I really like your last statement:

"Open the door wide so that she can see the reality behind Wicca."

Heresy exposed is heresy disposed.

</font>
"but rather expose them." How can that be done if you're just sweeping it under the rug and pretending it doesn't exist? I'm not saying try Wiccan, I'm saying to educate yourselves (and your children) about it so you know the truth. Kids are gonna learn about it one way or the other, wouldn't you rather they learned the truth about it? Do you just pretend that drugs and teen sex don't exist? They why would you do it with Wicca, which I would argue is even more dangerous.

Drugs and teen sex were negligible when I was growing up because we were taught that God said in his instruction book that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit and that sex is for marriage and only in the marriage bed.

When children are taught about sex at a young age, they begin to think and act out sexually. I had no idea what sex was about or how it was done until marriage. No Idea! The same can be said for all other sinful lifestyles.

I still believe that Christine should use scripture to explain WHY satanic worship and dabbling in spirits is wrong but not teach her child about witchcraft! I refer back to the scripture above.

A good thing to do also might be to find someone who was into Wicca at one time, but isn't now, and let that person talk to the girl.
Stories coming from someone who has been there are very effective in helping to keep a young person from considering it.

I kind of agree with Jonathan. You need to be able to point out why wicca is wrong, what things are a apart of it that are against God and show it from the bible.
