Women in charge???

The original post:
In checking out the scripture, I came across this one:

1 Tim 5-14-I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.

In checking the Strongs Concordance for meaning of the word guide, this is what it means:

from 3617; to be the head of (i.e. rule) a family:--guide the house.

Does this mean that women are actually allowed to RULE something??

The Request: Stay on topic.

The Answer:
"guide--Greek, "rule the house" in the woman's due place; not usurping authority over the man (1Ti 2:12)." (Jamieson Faucett, Brown)

"Bear children, guide the house. These words
signify, says Bloomfield, to "exercise and occupy themselves in the duties of a wife." " (Barnes)

"Paul states as a general principle that younger widows marry, bear children and maintain a Christian home that is above reproach. Of course, Paul realized that it would not always be possible for every young widow to remarry. The initiative must ordinarily be taken by the man. But he is simply laying down a general principle to be followed whenever possible." (MacDonald, Bible Believers Commentary)

In conclusion, the will of God (in general) is for a woman to marry, bear children, and maintain the home, submitting to her husband as the head of the house. The principle of submission is given in Eph. 5, and in 1Cor.11, and elsewhere. The Scripture does not contradict itself. The principle here is not one of rule, but rather of occupying the house and maintaining it.

We live in a complicated society where many families must depend on two incomes just to survive. Is it a sin, therefore for a woman to work? Of course not. Lydia was a seller of purple. She had a business when Paul met her in Acts 16. Pricilla helped her husband in the making of tents. She was part of the business. If you study the virtuous woman of Proverbs 31, you will find that this woman worked very hard, and was involved in much work of a secular nature even to the extent of land speculation or real estate.

It is not wrong for the woman to work outside the home, as long as the home is cared for. One must have their priorities set.

James 4:13-15 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

The most important thing: Don't leave God out of the picture. What is the Lord's will in each individual's life?

Again, rooster, how many plumbing jobs have you lost to a woman? How many electrician's jobs have you lost to a woman?
Only God knows. And it isn't limited to just me, but every man trying to fill the role that God has given us, to support his family, that is a mans responsibility, and women are not alone in the blame either, how many men have fooled around with a woman, having sex before getting married, and got a girl pregnant, then took off on her leaving her alone to raise, and support a child? All of it falls back on living a life in-line with Gods will, what is Gods will, he clearly spells it out for us in his word. earlier it was pointed out what if someone was made a widow? well then by all means, trust God, do not lean on your own understanding, and do the responsible thing, what ever that may be, and may God have mercy on you, as you strugle keeping your family afloat.
