I didn't even begin to mention anything so bloody, but stated the facts.:tongue3:gb93433 said:I am quite sure that if you were to get a job with a tallow works that would not happen.

So are you calling all women who wear dresses to church "legalists"?Dale-c said:Mex, as I am sure you know, legalism invariably leads to inconsistency.

And to think, covering the outline of a woman's figure is somehow immodest?
Ok, but now I have to ask, what life are you leading that is sooooooooo different at church than the one you lead in this "regular life"?dcorbett said:watch it, Jim.......:tonofbricks:
Seriously, I am a 56 year old grandmother who grew up in a era when women wore dresses everywhere, and it was respectful and showed the Lord a sense of reverance to wear a nice dress to church.
I still feel that way. I am IFB, and some women wear pants to church, but I just cannot bring myself to do that.
Regular life? I wear jeans all the time.

Ever thought about how it might look in the mirror?Mexdeaf said:Present company excluded, there are some MEN on this board that need a gag!
The thing is what you're desfribing isn't the same everywhere.Mexdeaf said:Of all the asinine things that have been bandied about in IBF circles, the 'pants on women' one has to be the worst... after 'wire-rimmed glasses', 'guitars on the platform', computers in the church office', and a host of other no-no's that have been hobby horses of IBF in the past.
I have lived long enough to see that many of the pastors who so fervently preached against 'pow' have gone liberal and their wives now wear pants.
I used to work with a Pentecostal woman who thought 'pow' was immodest, but she thought nothing of climbing up on a ladder in the stockroom and showing off her size XL undies to all the poor guys who just happened to be in the vicinity. Gag!!!!!!!!
OK, but was it "pounded" into you, or did you simply obey the Lord out of a willing heart?dcorbett said:I agree that modesty should be taught to young girls. But people get saved later in life (thank God) and have to learn the lessons from the Lord as they are convicted to. You can't pound your lessons into someone else.
And the same would benefit those who wear immodest dresses. Some women that go to my church NEVER wear pants, and some (like me) never wear pants to church but wear them in the rest of life, and some never wear dresses. If someone shows up in pants that are deemed to be immodest, one of the deacon's wifes (or other "meat" Christian) will pull that woman aside and gently "educate" her through scripture. (it is biblically correct for the mature women to do that, you know) If it is done in love and with understanding, then there are no hard feelings.
Thank you for your devoted life to modestyAs for me, well, being a large woman has always kept me in the restraints
of modesty - But if I had ever had the figure to wear tight pants and/or other immodest articles (like low cut blouses or even bikinis), I couldn't. It just ain't me.

I can't help but think you're referring to me, but since when is it "wrong" to incite holiness?

I know many who have "scalded" hides on the issue. Not hardly any have backed up and their wives? I have yet to see any of these wear pants in the 16 years I've known them. this makes your "point" pointless as it ONLY applies in certain situations.
Aren't you? You spoke of "men". I am one of those. After how you respond to all my posts in this fashion what else could anyone think?Mexdeaf said:Touchy, are we? I had no one specific in mind and was only replying to Jim's jest. And he replied in kind.
I've seen them come and go, but the ones I am talking about were standing on thisd issue many years before I came along. Even some of them are at home with the Lord.Mexdeaf said:Only 16 years? Give it a few more years. I am speaking from over 30 years' experience as an IFB.
