Well that's between me and God, isn't it? This is a matter of faith between me and my Lord. Sure, by my fruit you shall know me, but empirical "objective" proof. C'mon!
Our hearts? By your actions I'll have an indication, but again, its between you and God.
And you've never answered the question as to why Christ should be given ANY kind of authority, save for your own opinion that he should be given such.
You seem to have a need to say "its so because the bible says its so", as if that makes things "objective". But to do that you must first take the leap of faith that the bible is infallible and since its perfect then Jesus must be perfect b/c the bible says so.
"Why is your opinion higher than that of the Biblical authors?"
Its not, and I never said it was. But whose opinion is perfect is not the point. Jesus said "take up your cross and follow me". Jesus said "But who do YOU say that I am (my emphasis, but you get the Point). Those are the important points. Yes, I know I am relying on the Gospels when I say that. But taking the Gospels as a whole, they stand for those two propositions.
" You have no basis for knowledge that is certain. "
Actually, I'm relying on Jesus as presented in the Gospels and his work in my life.
"That is the fallacy behind your logic, or lack thereof."
I never claimed to be perfect.
Tom, you seem to feel like we have to prove our faith to you. Some things have to be taken on faith. Just b/c I don't meet your test on orthodoxy doesn't mean I'm wrong. It could mean I'm wrong, but we won't find out for sure till we're dead. Look, we are to love God with our entire being, including our brain. My mind's logic says some of the stuff in the bible is not as accurate as other stuff. If you don't like it, fine. We still both love God, love our neighbor, and know that the way to salvation is through Jesus Christ as revealed through the bible. Isn't that what's most important?
