I hope no one kneels at the ALTAR in church...

Muslims Kneel...

And Catholics have ALTARS...

SO.. do you have an altar in your church?

Pagans use Altars..
My sacrifice was on the altar 2000 yrs ago.. .
The Altar called Calvary.

Sorry Nodak.. your test will not work..
Some may look at something and call it pagan... others may not.

It is still subjective.

haha. wow.
this again eh.

so long ago since that time i started this kind of debate up. =P
------------------

music cannot ever be christian or non-christian. moral or immoral.
there's no proof that it could be either or.
i think most agree with that.

rock? rap? folk? electronica? techno?

personally - i learned to stay closer to God and praise Him more when i was listening to LeCrae (for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCdSWc6BBTQ)
now - i know that's not worship music - and i wouldn't play that in church even.
but i learn more from listening to christian rap than listening to hymns. even alot of preachers out there.

now - personally (which is the fact of the matter - it's all personal preference)
i get into a more worship mindset just from the music itself.
not the lyrics.
i dont listen to the lyrics first. i hear the music.
you could say i judge the book by the cover - or the music by the note.

i do watch the lyrics though. don't get me wrong.

in the end. music is all personal preference. which shouldn't matter.
the lyrics though - that's what you gotta worry about.

this has probably been said over the last 25 pages. haha.
but - all i really wanted to add - was this:

(Fighting Temptations clip) - the ending is the best - always gets a laugh out of me =P

God bless you all.
may the rap, rock and trip-hop given by christians tell a life-song that'll make you think.

peace.

Nope, Baptist (or baptistic) churches do not have altars and we do not kneel at altars. Altars are places of sacrifice, and we have none to offer, Christ having taken care of that.

And if you note, I was referring to the worship style, not the music when I mentioned turning off the sound. If we imitate pagan worship per se, we do not do it. My church does not do sand painting, walk labyrinthes, etc, because of that issue.

Now, as to lyrics, they need to be clearly Christian, not something anyone who believes in a generic God could comfortably sing.

Many years ago a nice Buddhist lady was coming to church where I attended. She came with her husband. She was happy as long as we sang, or taught, or preached about morals or about some generic God. But when we got specific, about Jesus as the only way, she got offended. Good and offended. Offended enough to think about what was being taught, and get saved.

That would never have happened with generic God talk and Buddhist like services.

"Rock music with Christian lyrics brings about a lack of reverence toward God and toward His name."

Again, Security Officer is making proclamations that he cannot back up Biblically. Rather he is sharing his opinion which he has the right to do. However, if you want to be taken seriously give us scripture to support your position. Give us legitimate evidence.

Hebrews 13:8 (King James Version)

"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever."

Now you are getting to the root of the problem...
This argument has been around for yrs that stems from racism.

That and the lie about the missionary that came back to America only to hear the "Black Jungle Music" playing in churches...

Some people can't handle the fact that their opinions are not equal to God's opinions..

It sounds like SO has real issues.. and if he is turned on by listening to Casting Crowns or music like that, then he will have to take that up with God...

But me being a Christian.. I HAVE NEVER gotten sexually aroused by listening to CCM.

ONLY Perverts do!

Hebrews 13:8 (King James Version)

"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever."

The link I provided (singing about beautiful feet) is rock? Really? I always thought Metallica was rock. Would be interested in getting other opininons though. Maybe I'm off base. Gee, I guess it all gets back to personal opinions.

Hebrews 13:8 (King James Version)

"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever."

Since we can't consider the lyrics, let me say, that this song just makes me want to gag. That's pretty horrible in my opinion, I'd much rather just listen to traditional hymns. This is why CCM is popular... stuff like this is a bunch of junk. You can't honestly expect younger people to voluntarily listen to this no matter how right with God they are.

Hebrews 13:8 (King James Version)

"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever."

What a monumentally stupid post. "Musical style made one type "Lord" without a capital "L."

just to prove the point, i put in a southern gospel cd, and now i can't type capital letters.

Of course, polka makes me mispell werds.

Techno music makes me st-st-st-utter.

And hip hop makes me get my tang tungled.

Dont'cha hate it when one's reasoning breaks down? :D

We keep coming back to the fact: the OP has no Scriptural basis for his position...yet he equates his position with "God's preference."

Hebrews 13:8 (King James Version)

"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever."

By the way...you've been reported for attacking me by calling me stupid.

Building your post count or is there some other reason for posting this verse 10 times?

Go ahead and mock the Scriptures by placing a reference passage along with your name as the Version and us some of the same wording in Scripture to personally attack me because you have been reported.

I was posting the Scripture verse because it is not my words that are going to convict, but I will ask God to share the truth by only using His Word (the Bible). This is why I was posting this so many times. Guess what...Here it comes again!

If you think that's a personal attack, then you need to grow some thicker skin. I said you were wrong, and you are on this issue. Call it anything you want, but you are still wrong.

Mock Scriptures? Hardly.

Report me all you want. Maybe I'll report you for your consistent spamming of the same post over and over again?
