Today, especially with the growth of cyberspace and social media, what, and how we say it, can bring life or death to another person!
I figured that all of us need to rethink what our words mean before we speak them or hit "Send!" I know that I am guilty of this sin, much more than I want to admit, and I wondered if you can relate?
One of my favorite Baptist preachers, Dane Aaker of Centerponit Church in Colton, CA was speaking about the elements of communion, and he caused me to rethink my use of words as I go through the day! (thanks Pastor Dane)
He instructed his congregation to think of the wine and bread, and it that when it touches our tongue how that blood and body was shed and broken to forgive our sins; even so, throughout the week, that same tongue is used to uttered gossip, profanity and damning words to others. That tongue is used to hurt others, and even cause others to be shun from fellowship.
Pastor Dane went on to say, that before we partake of the communion elements, we need to think about taming the tongue and our sinful uses of it as we go about living each day for the Lord!
Does that make sense to you? It sure did to me! The very tongue that I allow his blood and body to touch should not be used for filthy stories; gossip; or the use of such words as the "f" word, and others! We need to be more like Jesus, and be less like the flesh He saved us from; that is a progression. That is sanctification in progress!

Are you speaking "life" unto others in Jesus's name? Or are you speaking death by vile from the tongue and fingertip?
