Words of Wisdom

I am curious. Do you have any words of general wisdom that you have received that have proved beneficial?

My submissions:
1. "Keep your mouth closed and your ears open."
2. Choose a profession that you enjoy. You are the one who must get up every day and live with it. (My dear Grandfather's advice, which served me well.)

If you're gonna be dumb, you better be tough.

As for arguing with fools, when you argue with a fool, he'll just drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

It is not what a person does that brings them regrets in their last years of life. Rather it is those things they did not do that brings regrets.

I don't know, I reckon there are more than a few people who regret the things they've done.

Keep your eyes on the stars
And your feet on the ground,
And you overcome scars
That your memories confound.
For high are our goals,
And yet, stable our means
To give flight to our souls
Over worldly ravines.

My mom has told me this since I was very young and I've never forgotten: "Take what is good, expel the bad." She meant for example when I watch a movie, read a book or look into some controversial or new topics. Learn what you can but know where your moral compass stands.
