I really don't have an opinion, that's why I asked. On the one hand, you could say the umps were being a little biased, but, on the other hand, calls like that happen during the regular MLB season all the time.

Now that Korea beat USA 7-3, it's getting a little tense. Korea is the only undefeated team in this series. Next game for USA is with Mexico, who we beat the first time out 2-0. That's on Thursday, 7:30 EST, on ESPN.

In every other internation sporting competetion officials cannot be from a participating nation.

This should have had no US and no Japanese umps.

I agree, there should be no umps from the countries that are playing.

It looks like I must needs root for the ROKies. Otherwise, all I'll have left is the guys form the Dominican Republic.

Well, if the Toronto Blue Jays are playing it is fairly popular. Otherwise not too much unless someone has a favorite player they might want to watch.

If you notice in this entire forum there isn't one thread on the NHL, which is Canada's national sport, and far more popular.

So we're down to Dominican Republic vs. Cuba, and South Korea vs. ?

Will it be the good ol' USA? Tune in tonight.

PS I read that some of the guys from Team Venezuela cried when they lost the other day. The Latin American teams are taking this VERY seriously.

TomVols & KenH have also started threads on the NHL.

I enjoy the playoffs of the NHL, but hardly pay attention the NHL during the regular season.

The Japanese stepped into the kimchi :( . Thanks Seoul Brothers [IMG] [IMG]

Now, I have to worry about the RoKies. Oh, well, either the RoK or the Dominicans can beat Cuber (think of how JFK pronounced the word) if need be.

USA lose to Mexico - don't even make it to the semi-finals of our national sport.

We are about the have a true baseball world champion and its not going to be an American team.

Methinks the World Baseball Classic will be shortlived :( .

USA couldn't make the cut [IMG]
So who will come out on top?

    Dominican Republic vs. Cuba?
    Korea vs. Japan?

My guess is Korea winning against the Dominican Republic.

Maybe we can come up with a World American Football Championship so that we can win a world title in some sport.

Surely the American American Footballers could beat any nation in the world.

We can't win at bastketball, baseball, soccer, or rugby, so we need something to give us a little international sports credibility. Maybe this is a way to do it.

I guess I am most disappointed in the behaviour of umpire Bob Davidson who did his best to help the US by two incredibly bad calls.

Good thing I don't place wagers.

Korea/Japan game in progress as I type.

So now I say Korea vs. Cuba, with Korea winning in a nail-biter.

Comes down to a great final - Japan and Cuba, traditionally two of the best teams in baseball.
