World Cup

Didn't they make it to the quarters in 2002?
Oops. You're right. "Senior moment" ...

By the way, if we're looking for World Cup precedent, the only time the USA and Belgium have met in Cup play was in 1930. Result: USA 3, Belgium 0.

In a bit of turmoil here :). We have a Bible study at 8 and kickoff is at 9. I think it is my role as pastor and Bible study leader to not hold people beyond the time they expect to finish :).

Who scheduled this Bible study anyway?

The keey is to have the tv set to the proper channel. So that after the meeting, it can be turn on to the match. That and the proper munchies prepared for the after meeting "fellowship".

Make it a stand-up meeting, no one can sit down. You're meeting will be over in an hour.

Only women showed tonight. They didn't have a clue why I was so pressed to quit at nine...until I opened the TV cabinet :)

Pity they had to watch a lethargic U.S. team that couldn't finish its passes once beyond midfield, nor stop that "no true fullback" attack by Belgium. They're making me look bonkers as an analyst.

They'd better eat their Wheaties at halftime, or they'll be coming home.

Told you so.

Seriously, this team played far too conservatively. I don't know why Klinsmann let them play wide open throughout qualifying and the group round, and then pulled in his attack against Belgium. Seems the U.S. side does this every single World Cup.

Had we played either half the way we played the last 15 minutes, it would have been a repeat of 1930.

On a happier note, Germany won over France...

I would ask why that is a "happier note" but I'm in no mood for gloating.
Today's picks: Netherlands and Argentina.
If for no other reason than ABC Sports soccer analyst Greg Kreig so badly predicted yesterday's games, and picked your same winners for today, I'll have to say Costa Rica and Belgium.

I have to express sympathy for Kreig, however. His network doesn't understand politics or government, either.
