Closing in on the end of the day. I haven't watched the news all day today, but I haven't heard anything about the earthquakes or rampant volcanic activity that was prophecied.

Anyone remember the radio broadcast by Orson Wells, "War of the Worlds?"
I don't personally remember it, but my Dad heard the broadcast when he was a teenager. He said it had him going for a while but then he realized the news agencies they were attributing the stories to were fake, generically named agencies.

It changed the rules for broadcasting. By law a station must give call signs, and other things as a result of the nation wide chaos the "War of the Worlds" broadcast brought.

Do you have a reference for that? As WOTW -was broadcasted broadcasted by Orson Wells in 1938 - Call Signs were introduced in 1912

What other requirements made for were radio stations ?

Yes, they were used, but I read somewhere the regulations were quite lax compared to now.

There is a resource here on specific changes the FCC made. Such a program would not be allowed, now.

Those unfamiliar with this broadcast should read on how last minute changes by Wells to the timing and tempo of the pace of the "late breaking news" interruptions (as they are referred to today, really captured the audience, even those who knew it was a hoax. Keeping the voice of Roosevelt, was just a pin that stuck the tail to the audience.

There is a rather decent black and white movie about the broadcast.
It makes for a good laugh at the gullible.

Yet it is also a bit sad, because the "fake news" is still a theme.

For folks to load their guns, barricade themself and the family in the homes, cause general panic to the point of calls for congressional hearings and lawsuits, it was some Halloween trick or treat.

Reminds me of the Y2K news cycle.

A bit late. The Irvingites said it would happen in, 1833.
Full preterists believe it happened around AD70.

Since full preterists say "all has been fulfilled" then the standard rapture proof text has therefore been fulfilled.

1 Thessalonians 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Therefore according to full preterists we have all been "left behind".

Sorry :(
