Would You Give An Altar Call At A Funeral?

I am. Usually I just talk to people to descend their posture. They will vocalize their stance if asked, then you prove further. I’ve pulled people outa bars, AA people, coworkers, people going through divorce etc. I don’t press them, I don’t use technique, just plain talk

Good for you for evangelizing. But just as nobody should be compelling you to give up your method:

Who are you who judge the servant of another? To his own lord he stands or falls. Yes, he will be made to stand, for God has power to make him stand.

We had the service at a Committal Shelter (a my mind a ramada on the cemetery gro (unds. Due to scheduling by SVNC, we only had 30 minutes. But, we got 'er done. No altar call, but a clear presentation of the Gospel was made by two of the speakers, my younger brother and my pastor (who was friends with Dad).

If you are preaching a funeral and do not give an open call to the Gospel you are doing it wrong.

I'm preparing for my father's graveside service on Monday. He went home to be with his Lord on Good Friday. Due to the logistics of the burial location and gathering of family, nothing could be done until that date. I haven't seen my cousins in over 20 years and wasn't all that close to them at that time. I don't plan on having an "altar call" right in the middle of Sacramento Valley National Cemetary. But, I'm seeking the Lord's wisdom in somehow including the Gospel in what I say.

At my services, I want the person running it to make sure there is a clear presentation of the Gospel and give folks the opportunity to respond after the service is over.

I’m not judging anyone but when it was done to me I just looked it as cheap and manipulative. It pushed me farther away, because it wasn’t my time.... only the HS can name the time and place. Most up here in the NE reject what they perceive as manipulation. You then get labeled as a holy roller nut job. Any wonder why Southern Baptists are almost non existent here.

Probably because we are Southern and y'all are Yankees. Until recently, the SBC didn't want you. Now we have that "big umbrella" thing going on.
