Hi again, saved by grace [IMG] ! I will probably get around to putting the story on my website. I'll let you know when I do.

Yes, I interviewed Lori Wick, and she was VERY nice. [IMG]

Hey Baptist Believer...wanted to get your thoughts on something.

I was able to chat online with a friend of mine who I met on another forum, www.fundamentalistforums.com, and who also happens to edit all of John MacArthur's books.

(I've interviewed him twice, because not only is he the director of MacArthur's radio ministry,he is also the webmaster of www.spurgeon.org, which I believe is the largest Charles Haddon Spurgeon archive on the Internet. He also has a very insightful and often humorous page called "Phil Johnson's Annotated Bookmarks to Bad Theology on the Internet.")

Anyway,Phil also used to work for Moody Press, and took part in several writers' conferences. He is a wonderfully gifted wordsmith that I admire a great deal.

Here's the advice he gave me: "Don't go to writer's conferences. They are a waste of time."

He advised me to write about things I'm interested in, because it's likely that others will be interested too.

I had given serious consideration to attending a writer's conference in August, but I had forgotten that my niece was getting married that weekend.

What do you think of that bit of advice?

</font>[/QUOTE]I think it's good advice. Write about what you know and enjoy is a bit of classic writer wisdom that will give your work joy and purpose.

As far as writer's conferences go, I've never been to one. I do attend a writer's group here in town (10-15 people sitting around a table reading and evaluating each other's work).

I'm not sure you can get anything out of a writer's conference that you can't get out of a book -- except connections.

Since you seem to have a few connections already, I suggest only going to writer's conferences to socialize and meet other people or to hear and talk to a "big name" guest author.
