A passengers close-up view of an engine failure on a Boeing 777.

What are you doing in this situation?

  • The post shares a 31-second passenger video from United Airlines Flight 1382's December 13, 2025, takeoff from Dulles Airport, showing flames erupting from the Boeing 777's right engine due to a fan blade failure, which also sparked a nearby brush fire.
  • With 92,911 views and 698 replies, it elicits mostly lighthearted responses emphasizing calm—such as trusting pilots or joking about repairs—reflecting public familiarity with the 777's ability to fly safely on one engine.
  • FAA data confirms no injuries among 300 aboard, highlighting the aircraft's redundancy; a similar 2021 United 777 incident led to enhanced inspections, informing this event's quick resolution.

While I still have all my moderatoring tools, I am not a moderator anymore. I've asked for them to be taken away and moderator taken off of my name, but no one here can do it. So I made the choice last year to lay them down myself. I stand by that.

I say that to say this. There is a rule at the BB that we will not trash someone's name who has died....for 30 days.
