If any random XFL team were to play any radom NFL team were to play a game
(First half XFL rules - Second half - NFL rules ) which team would win?

Would you like to see some XFL teams play an exhibition game against the NFL
during the NFL pre-season?

The NFL team would probably win because the QB's in the NFL are superior. The QB of the Washington Defenders, James Cardale is the exception. He is pretty good and reminds me of Donovan McNabb. The Washington Defenders could probably beat the dregs of the NFL.

I would not want to see an XFL team play an NFL team in an exhibition unless both teams played their starters. I do not watch NFL preseason games.

Why would you think the starters would not begin the game?
I'm sure the XFL would put their best out to show they are just as good.

But the NFL (players) not so much.

XFL rosters are composed of cut NFL players and players who never made it to NFL. The NFL has exponentially more talent.

An exhibition game between an NFL team and an XFL team would compare to what is less common today than yesteryear in baseball, where a major league team plays its AAA, or maybe AA, team, or a college team. Those minor league guys really want to show something in such a game; the major league players regard it as just another exhibition. So really nothing of value would take place.

But that's not quite the same situation as several decades ago, when major league teams played against Negro Leaguers in exhibition games. The black teams won about 2/3 of such games, but the reason is obvious-- they wanted to prove they are equal to or better than the major leaguers and should be among them. But they were still only exhibition games to the major leaguers, which means more often than not that starters didn't play that much.

Great question! I’m biased to the century-year-old league, but I believe the NFL teams are superior and would run the board in an actual game where starters played. With that being said, I’ve been more impressed by the XFL than the other recent attempts. I’ve watched every weekend and have enjoyed the games (particularly the scoring changes). Glad to see football fans on this board! Any wrestling/grappling fans besides me and John of Japan?

I think that at this juncture the NFL team would win, probably in a blowout. The QB factor was mentioned above, but perhaps a bigger issue is the short time these teammates have had to work together. It seems there's more hugely missed passes (not including throwaways) in an XFL half than in a half season of NFL, not because the QBs are horribly inaccurate (though some are) but because they and the receivers aren't always on the same page. It's similar with OL play - the few XFL front 5s that really work together stand out but even those units are far behind almost any NFL OL in coordinating the blocking. Maybe if the XFL makes it through this season and next, its better teams might then have the cohesion to compete with the bottom of the NFL.

I think that any NFL team would be so embarrassed at the prospect of losing to a XFL team that they'd manage to find a way to win. ;)
