No need for waiting at least five years after you die... You can be a saint now!

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints. - Psalms 116:15

Meaning... They were saints while they were alive here on the earth.

Jonathan Falwell- A saint? I would agree
Jerry Falwell Jr - A saint? Very much disagree

It would be tough for me to acknowledge anyone trying to build for themself a multi million dollar empire as a saint.

Do you consider Jerry Falwell Jr a saint?
I don't know him. If he knows the Lord Jesus Christ as his Saviour, then he is a saint. If he doesn't, he isn't. The bible uses the word "saint(s) for all Christians. It is never used in the bible as a title for a special "class" of Christian.

None of us are righteous, only declared righteous by grace through faith.

None of us are saints, only declared saints by grace through faith.

We have been placed in a position by God we don't deserve.

David - if you google Fawell, you will see how much disgrace he brought upon the college his dad had founded.

I have been baptized three times as a teenager... GARBC Baptist, Freewill Baptist, and Pentecostal Holiness. I consider myself Charles Stanley type Pentecostal Holiness in which Charles Stanley's grandfather was Pentecostal Holiness yet Charles Stanley was Baptist. The Pentecostal Holiness send most ministers here in Virginia through the Liberty University program in which the online program in highly recommended. Especailly as we have no universities in these parts. I have help send my niece through the Liberty Universities IT degree program and used to enjoy attending all the events. Even making a video...

Lynchburg Virginia's Liberty University... A big deal for most Protestant churches in our area...

The disgrace Jerry Falwell Jr brought to our area is a terrible thing... And even more sickening is that they paid this scandalous man $15 million dollars...

Jerry Falwell Jr a saint? Not in my eyes!

Jerry Falwell Jr is an insult to anything Christian. At least Jimmy Swaggert repented. In a local news story... "Falwell also sued the university on his own behalf claiming he was owed millions of dollars in retirement payments. With both cases settled Falwell has a new freedom he hasn't had in four years -- a voice. He's just trying to figure out how to use it." - 'I'm ready to move on': Jerry Falwell Jr. discusses his future in exclusive interview

It's like... Yikes! Run fer yer lives!

Remembering...

2 Walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
3 But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. - Ephesians 5

If Jerry Falwell Jr is walking in love... It is the strange fleshly self love we see so much of these days. In which is not saint like spirit or behavior.

This type of manifestation is according to the spirit of idolatry, similar to the idolatry of the Beast, the head of the apostate and demonic Church of Rome, currently called the Roman Catholic Church.
I dont see where the RCC is part of this discussion

RCC - Qualifications for sainthood too much.

On the other extreme...

Non-RCC - Qualifications for sainthood too liberal

Middle Ground- A true saint should be able to visit the sick, weak, and afflicted.... With no worries of an outcome such as personal benefit or fornication.

Thanks, Salty. I don't doubt it. I just meant that my own knowledge of the man isn't sufficient to say whether or not he is a saint, i.e. a Christian.

And another thing that came down from the Jerry Falwell days... The love of the title "Fundamentalist."

Jerry Falwell was a prominent American Baptist pastor and televangelist, known for his strong fundamentalist beliefs and his role in mobilizing the Christian Right into a political force. He founded the Thomas Road Baptist Church and Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, and co-founded the Moral Majority, a national political organization. - Google Search

Not many honoring the "Fundamentalist" name tag these days. In which any Christian saint wouldn't mind bearing.
