Servent, I agree with you. Evangelism is 1 of the most important aspects of ministry.
Solid Biblical teaching is also sorely needed. We also need to adopt methods to reach a postmodern world.
The message must be the very same message that the apostles were told to preach.
Door to door evangelism has it's place and not all churches or people will be able to effectively use that method.
Some need a program with a hook to get the people in.
Lifestyle evangelism will work better for some people.
In your face confrontation will work for some.
Caring ministry will help others.
My daughter and I have felt led to begin clown ministry. We will have fun and help folks laugh while presenting the Gospel in a fun and non-confrontational manner.
We need to be willing to meet people where they are and help them find the Savior they need.

I met a woman at our last project grad. who had a clown ministry, she said it was working very well.Myself I like door to door and in your face,but that what works for me, it's not for everyone,but everyone should find something that works for them. We are all called to witness for the Master.
I would say sound biblical teaching with depth. Most churches that we have been to as members or visiting have very little depth....more fluff,very little understanding of scripture. Little is taught because the pastor feels the need to keep things light,to please man,and the people never grow in Christ to be able to discern false teaching. They lack the understanding and motivation to share Christ because the Word of God has not been presented to them correctly. I believe people can learn and study on their own,they should,but the church has a great responsibility to grow and disciple people,not leave them babes in Christ.
For example,our pastor taught on open theism recently and did so,to protect the flock...it was biblical,indepth,straightforward, and edifying....
It is a great responsibility,that's why these men need to be qualified and able to teach the Word of God.

preach on, Brother Servant. we are all called to witness for our Lord. I have found that by performing as a clown I can get the Gospel to folks I would never have access to, otherwise. Let's all be about our Father's business. In order to be effective, though, we need to know His Word, which means being taught and studying the Bible every day. Do not forget personal prayer. You can;t have a deep relationship without walking and talking with Him.
Street Preaching would help churches confront the culture.
The OT & NT examples are too numerous to list but just reading through the first 5 chapters of Acts, we see that the Apostles preached in the streets, to the multitudes who were generally receptive. Most of the preaching in the Bible took place in the open air - there were no church buildings as we know them until after the canon of scripture was closed.
The religious leaders - described in the King James Bible as priests continually confronted and opposed the street preachers AND used the governmental authorities to arrest the street preachers and try to make them shut up.
Almost 2000 years later, priests and religious people still oppose street preaching and try to use officers to shut up the preachers.
We cannot adequately confront the culture from inside the walls of our churches.
We cannot fulfill the command of our Lord "Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature" from inside the walls of our churches.
We should not pass up the abundant opportunities to preach to the multitudes where ever they gather - even if they do not want to hear the preaching and even if the local police feel we should not be preaching at a parade or a ball game or what ever event draws a crowd.

I would like to add "reverence in our worship services" to what has already been said here. A former boss of mine had an expression for describing himself whenever he was feeling uneasy about something - nervous as a whore in church.
With the circus-like atmosphere that permeates many churches today, hardly anyone would feel nervous and convicted about anything.

Roy I have to agree with you on this point, Last Sunday I could not focuse on what was going on for all the racket, little ones that should be in nursey causing a fuss, talking during the offering,not just wisperes but loud talking it's getting out of control, when a young person gets up in the middle of the service and walks to the front of the church to go to the restroom it's time for something to be said. think I will
