Your views on Masons

It all sounds nice to placate suspicious minds, but tell us....WHY was a pyramid chosen? Why not a square building or some other symbol?

Isn't the all seeing eye an ancient Egyptian hieroglyph?

Those who are easily deceived will continue to accept "plausible" explanations.

BTW, has anyone seen the new $20.00 bill folded showing the twin towers ablaze on one side and the Pentagon ablaze on the opposite side? Of course Snopes Urban Legends web site disputes any theory by stating the new currency was issued in 1998 long before 09/11, but my $20.00 bill was series 1996.

Their "explanation" doesn't hold up either, IMHO.

It is the symbol for Ra, the sun god.

 

The eye has symbolized Ra for thousands of years. And probably even pre dates christianity.

I don't know much about freemasonry but I do know this - that when masons get converted, they come out and warn people about it (that is, if they are truly converted!). Such people are the best qualified to speak of freemasonry and we ought to heed what they say.

In the strict definition of being a cult I believe that Freemassonry is one. However, I try not be quick to "demonize" groups who do not conform to christian beliefs.

My father is a mason and my uncle is one of the highest ranking orders you can go reach (at least here in Australia).

Before being overly judgemental balance what individuals believe rather than the instition.

For most members it is only a social group aimed at friendship and doing good works (of which there are many)and with some funny initiation and membership rights (which few know the meaning of).

In Australia the Freemasonry society grew from the immigration of Welsh stonemasons back in the 19th century. Welsh stonemasons were required to belong to the stone craft guild for the rebuilding of the English and Scottish cathedrals and churches between the 16th and 19th centuries and became inter-twined with freemasonry.

It is only those members beyond the third degree that start to learn that it goes way back beyond there. Some (but by no means all) believe it goes back to the Pharaohs and the masons were originally the craftsmen associated with the temple and paramid building.

There only religious requirement is that members believe in a "supreme being" therefore they will admit persons of any religious belief.

When I was approached to join I declined. This was not on the basis of the fact they were not a "christian" organisation but rather my concern of submitting to initiation rights that had deeper meaning (eventhough these rights could not be adequately explained to me).

 

Hmm, so you're saying if a person is a mason and claims they're a Christian, they're not really a Christian? That's a pretty bold and judgemental statement, I think. I know three people who are active Masons. One who's a active SBC member, one who is a devout believing Presbyterian, and one who's a spirit-filled member of a local Calvary Chapel congregation. These three people are 100% faithful and born-again Christians.

 

My father is in "the line" at his Blue Lodge, third time through. He also carries the collection plates every Sunday, leads the church in prayers and creates the monthly church newsletter. He faithfully attends his Baptist church. he is a good man and tolerant of others beliefs. We have a bowling league where the Baptist and Catholics and Methodists and others all get together and compete. Even the LDS were bowling with us for awhile. He says the opening prayers for that as well.
My parents were both in Eastern star and my mothers parents were both in that also. Grandpa was a " Master of the 32nd degree of the ancient and accepted scottish rite". I was in both Jobs Daughters and Rainbow girls for a time in my teens. my brother was in Demolay, (he was a master councillor).
I dont quite know what to think of freemasonry after certain things i have read but the people i have known involved in it are just nice people like anyone else, my father especially.
