Update on Jared Fisher (guitar25)

We saw Jared and family yesterday.

Jared is still in the coma - his intercranial pressure is good - the doctor removed the sensor yesterday - his eyes are closed - but Jan saw the right one moving - when the nurse swabbed his mouth, tears fell from his eyes - he is still on a ventilator, but he sometimes breathes on his own.

Baby steps - but we are still praying, and ask that you continue to pray.

Dan

I'm so sorry. What a difficult time this is for Jared and family. Thanks so much for this update, Dan.
Jared and family are in my prayers.

Good Morning Everyone!

Our house is recovering quickly today. The girls went back to school and coffee didn't bother me, so I guess another round is over.

I have to find my house again though. How 4 folk who can't move managed to wreck it like it is now is beyond me! After that a couple of errands and then it will be off to church to sew this afternoon.

Thanks for the update Dan. I'm still praying.

Gayla, how are you feeling today?

Good Afternoon Everybody,

Dan: that is fantastic news about Jared.

Cuz: so glad that you and the menagerie are recovered. I agree with you about the housecleaning. Isn't it amazing how much clutter can accumulate in 24 hours?

Gayla: so happy that the nausea has gone[but not as happy as you I'll bet.]

As much as it hurts to laugh I had a good one today. Donna commented in the What's for Dinner? thread that it would be good when I'd be back to the "Magnificent things" that I cook. The Maginificent thing I had last night was a double cheeseburger from McDonald's. My poor attempts at cooking are certainly laughable at times but hardly what I would call magnificent. Now if we were talking about the results of the BB cooks[many of whom visit here regularly] that would be a different matter indeed.

I'm slowly learning [from experience, no less] that it hurts when I try to move the wrong way, or cough, or laugh, or breathe. Giving up breathing is the hardest believe me.

Tonight's dinner[I'm told] will be Marinated Chicken Breast with homegrown lettuce and tomatoes, and apple pie [commonly known as a chicken sandwich from Burger King with a piece of their apple pie. ]

Adam and Eve had the perfect marriage. He didn't have to listen to her talk about her girlfriends; and She didn't have to hear about how good a cook his Mother was.

Morning all,
I have barely gotten my eyes open this morning and I am in for an extremely long day at work so cooking breakfast is out of the question. Sorry, maybe someone else can cook. I am going to pick up a sausage biscuit on my way this morning. I had better go, I seriously need a hot shower-hopefully that will wake me up!
Y'all have a good day.

Thank you all for praying for Jared (guitar25)!

I talked to his mother (Joy) Friday AM - Jared had opened his eyes and followed people with them. He also has coughed and is breathing over the ventilator.

Again - baby steps - but positive steps.

Good Afternoon Everybody,

Dan that's fantastic news. They may be baby steps, but they're giant leaps toward Jared's recovery.

Has anybody heard anything from Sue? I know Chicago got hit with heavy rains and resulting floods, but don't know how far north the damage is.

We had a line of storms which spawned tornados go thru our area last night. Heavy rains, lightning, and mucho property damage and power outages. Our area was fortunate to not have much damage, but; Lansing to our North took the major blow of the storm. Fortunately only minor injuries have been reported from Mother Nature's latest tantrum.

And last week we were complaining about the heat and lack of rain. Like they say "be careful what you wish for."

Our annual Civil War Re-enactment is this weekend. Ouch!, imagine being in 90% humidity, tramping around in wet grass in wool uniforms.

Our camping is still on for next week[ thank God it wasn't this week ]. The weather is supposed to be cooler and rain is only forcast for one day.

Wha? What was that noise??? Oh, it was just my Cuz looking in the freezer to see If I left any dishes she could nuke for breakfast next week. I'll try to leave something Cindi, even if it's only my best wishes.

Time to go down and see what is left of our 'sunken" garden. Guess we won't have to water for awhile.LOL!

Very good news indeed, Dan! Thanks for the update.

Sue is probably still painting! See I know what happens when you decide to paint. First it's paint. Then there are those bumps and dings that you decide to get rid of because it will make for a much nicer paint job. Then the doors and trim need to be stripped because the layers of paint are getting to where they are thick looking. Before all that, you have move the furniture out of the room. Then there are twenty trips to the paint store because it is impossible to remember everything the first time you go. See, painting is an ever expanding job and we may not see Sue before the first of the year!

We have thunder rolling through, but not the blessing of rain that is supposed to come with it. Not fair! At least the clouds have let it cool just a bit.

I have a smock to embroider so I'm off to find a design that fits the purpose and get it done. The girl will need it for school Monday.

Rob, aren't sunken gardens something only rich folk can afford? Do I have a rich cousin instead of a rich uncle? :D

Just a quick check-in all! We're still on vacation - now in Mystic Seaport, CT (www.mysticseaport.org) and we'll be here until tomorrow. We should be home sometime on Thursday and we've had a great trip despite the cool weather and huge storm that we hit last weekend (BAD storm - bad results but we're all OK). I'll talk to you all when we get back. :D

Oh Ann! Mystic Seaport is wonderful! It is one of the very, very few things I miss about CT. That and the fact that Seth and Anna didn't have any nose bleeds the whole time we were there.

Enjoy your vacation!

As for us, we are not feeling too well. Not sure what is up with the kids but, I think i over did it yesterday:tonofbricks:

Have a good Sunday all!

Unfortunately Cindi when I was talking about my "sunken garden" I was speaking about the result after the storms went thru. BTW I'm waiting for my rich uncle to get out of the poorhouse.

Did you say you're the rich cousin, or I am? Sorry I couldn't hear you, too many collection calls on this end.

Good Afternoon Everybody,

The weather for the next 7 days is supposed to be perfect for camping or anything else. Not too hot, not too cold, rain forcast for only one day and that could change.

I'm beginning to think this camping thing is a bad idea. We went to church last night and I was miserable because of my ribs. I won't be able to do much at the campground except talk to the other two couples going with us, or watch the Grandkids swim, etc.

Been trying to help load the RV but I don't think I'm holding up my end [be nice Ladies] of the load.

Cuz: I left meals in the freezer for next week. They're all set to go, on second thought I'll PM you my debit card so you can treat everybody. I don't want you overdoing it-either cooking or using the debit card. My password is xxxxxxxxxx.

We'll be home on Labor Day, and will check in after that.

Play nice Ladies. Big Brother is watching.

Have as much fun as you can, Rob. I wonder if being in the water would relieve some of the pressure on your poor ribs. Just don't swim with the grandkids! Kids climbing all over you would not be good!

Tanya, I thinketh we all have a virus, although how your kids came by it is beyond me. My house is filled with sinusy dizzy people and that includes me! Evidently this is what's been wrong with Chris all this time. He's better but I was to dizzy to go to church this morning. I suppose allergies could explain all this, but Chris has gotten better.

T got out working on the cars today and he's really bad now. Allergies plus whatever is going on with me. He was already dizzy before he went out. Now he just sounds really congested.

We are having pulled pork BBQ, fries or baked potatos, and texas toast for supper with ice cream for dessert. anyone who wants to add some baked beans or cole slaw to menu is welcome to do so.

Enjoyeth!

Good evening all,

I went to change my contacts tonight and one of them rolled up and I could not, for the life of me, get it out. I finally had to go to the ER and I now have a patch over one eye.

They found the rolled-up contact lens and removed it, but while it was in there, it managed to scratch my cornea in two places. It is quite painful right now. I'm hoping it feels better tomorrow.

I'm subbing on a school corner all this week and I start a paper route Tuesday. I still have 7 rooms to paint. Anyone want to help???

Pleasant dreams all!

I'll help out, Sue, by putting on breakfast. :)

This morning it is sausage, bisquits and gravy. There is fresh fruit in the fridge staying cool and plenty of stuff for smoothies if someone wants something cooler. Coffee and water for tea are hot! Help yourselves!

Lunch will consist of make 'em yourselves sub sandwiches, raw veggies and chips. There's dip too. It's all in the fridge except the rolls which are hiding in the bread box. If there is fruit left from breakfast someone needs to finish it off.

I'm going to be busy finding my own house underneath the weekend clutter and might not be back in till supper. Ya'll clean up after yourselves!

Thankfully, most of the dizzyness I had yesterday has subsided. Amazing what benedryl and sudafed (the real stuff) can accomplish. I'm leaving off the benedryl cause I just can't sleep half of today, but keeping on with the sudafed.

Ya'll all have a good Monday!

My question is, Why would anyone want to paint 7 rooms all at once? I think my living room was last papered and painted 20 years ago. Two jobs in your state of health?

Phew! Glad I am retired!

Cheers,

Jim

Good breakfast, Cindi. Thanks!

That's the sad part, Jim. I'm retired too! :tonofbricks:

Actually, the paper route will be turned over to Brent as soon as we get the route down pat and baskets on the sides of his bicycle. I will only be doing it when he has basketball practice or a game (3 nights a week).

It gives Brent some spending money and his tithe, and the rest goes into a savings account for his college fund.

The sub for crossing guard is not steady. It's just when someone needs a sub for a few days or a week, but we have 10 crossing guards, so it can keep me pretty busy at times (subs are tax free).

The rooms are getting painted because they didn't all get painted when we bought the house. Since the outside is going to look so nice, I wanted the inside to match. It will probably be the last time I paint all (or any) of them.

Everyone was tired tonight, so we just had brats, kidney bean salad, and sliced tomatoes.

Time for relaxing and a movie before bedtime.

Pleasant dreams all!

Good Morning Everyone!

This morning we have bacon, eggs and fresh, hot cinnamon rolls. That should fill everyone up till this evening.

Since I'll be doing karate at lunch I'm leaving a pot of vegetable beef soup in the crock pot and several types of bread in the bread box(including corn bread!).

Supper tonight will be something Rob left in the freezer. It has lost it's label but it looks to be a chicken/broccoli and maybe cheese (?) casserole. If I don't get back tonight someone toss it in the oven, okay?

Today is the normal schedule of house, school, karate and sewing at church. We are getting into a regular routine finally, and things are settling down.

Ya'll enjoy your Tuesday!

Cindi it makes me hungry just reading about all those good food. Never mind filling up till this evening..... :)

So you stand in the corner again Lady Sue? You must have been a bad girl. I think it was the paint......

Bro. Jim, don't you know by now that retired people work harder than those gamely employed? :type:

Hi my dear Brother Barnabas, you mean that isn't just a rumour?

I thought that once I retired, I would find time to do a little writing, but it seems each day passes and again I wonder where the time has gone. Just a few weeks ago, the pastor of a little Baptist Church 25 miles from me retired,,he is 60. That church invited me to pastor their church,,,lol...at my age and 15 years retired. It was tempting, but then I remember reading, "Yield not to temptation...." and instantly declined the offer.

Cheers,

Jim
