You know, I just figured it out! Blackbird is coming to visit me right after Christmas so he can steal all my VOTES! Oh No!

I guess that's the price I'll have to pay to meet my dear friend in person tho. LOL

Diane - My motto has always been, "It's better to have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy."

That'll preach.

(Gotta scoot. Taking a break from tests and more coming for the next 3 hours. Grrr)

Sheila have a lovely Christmas! I got called from 2 friends and am working all day tomorrow at the Corn Stove store and then working 3 half days at an antique store where I bought Donna's Secret Pal presents on the 26th, 27th and Jan. 3rd. The money will buy groceries so I'm thankful! I'm also so very glad I spent all day cleaning and doing laundry so it'll be done for Christmas.

Good evening, everybody!

I worked all day today, and still have a hacking cough, but am feeling much better. I was totally FLATTENED Friday, Saturday and Sunday. What a bummer of a weekend. :(

So I have tons to do to get ready for Christmas, but probably won't do anything tonight as I am really tired. I have to work about half a day tomorrow, then I'm off, so I will just have to get it done then! I've NEVER been this far behind in getting ready for Christmas! Oh well...

I see Diane has been "accused" of sending voter packages, and I see she has denied it. Somehow, I believe her! And besides, I haven't gotten one from her, so I'm sure she hasn't sent any!!

No snow here...mid 60's and VERY windy. But I can only remember a couple of times in my entire life we had a white Christmas in N. Central Texas!!! :D

NOOOOOOTHING escapes the eye of Blackbird!!!!

Your Southern Baptist preachin', package interceptin' buddy,

Good to have all back up and functional. Or at least up.

And I "heard" those evil reports about Diane as well and if I hadn't started them myself, I wouldn't believe them, either!

Doctor Grif---you are hidin' a smile/smurk behind that mustache---and if you smiled outloud---the camera would show "Chocolate Chip!!!"

As for Blackbird---well, the fishin' and huntin' expos are still part of the package!! Louisiana Gator huntin' at its best---complete with Q-Beam flashlight and .357 revolver---any daredevils out there wanna go out into the Louisiana swamp with Blackbird???

We went caroling today at two different nursing homes. It is a joy to see some of these folks enjoy the singing - and the kids give them an ornament that they made. But it is also difficult when I see some folks in the homes that I have known for years - and see how they deteriorate from the previous year - or realize that some I saw last year are no longer alive.

Dr. Bob - I've pulled that family planning joke for years - it usually gets me a poke in the ribs with an elbow. I showed Jan your post - she said that I had to tell all that the twins were four days late and Kelly was five days early - and that it was the Lord - not family planning.

Diane - I was about to pick on you - and wonder whether or not you forgot what causes kids - when you explained that you adopted your grandchild when he was an infant.

Sheila - I hope you have a grand time on your visit!

Blackbird - keep up the campaign - as for me - I'll just get more of my Sunday School class to join BB - and then get them to vote for me next year. Don't get sick eating all the goodies you hijacked - I wonder if Diane will lose some votes over that one!

Sue - you still having fun with the grandkids?

Dan

PS - called all three of the children today - and wished them a happy birthday!

You guys aren't going to believe this but Blackbird is moving way up in the voting! I think this blackmail by blackbird is working!

LOL Dan! Nick has asked us many times for a baby brother even tho he knows he 'grew inside Erin'. He wants us to have a 5 year old tho! I'm too tired for more little ones!

C.J. sent me about a bazillion links to job hunting sites for Jim! I've been posting resumes all over! LOL

Dr. Bob, Nick asked me a good question after we prayed for all our friends tonight. He wants to know if 'Dr. Bob can't feel his feet, is it hard to walk?' I wasn't sure how to answer him.

Cheryl dropped Jordan and friend off to see the 3rd installment the Lord of the Rings. The deal was that I was to pick them up at the food court at 8pm. I got there early and decided to play a little hide-and-go seek with them.

It was pretty funny until the mall security officer stopped them and sent them to the security office. Seems there is a curfew at the mall for minors. I caught them at the office and they were released to me. There were some 20 youths there waiting for parents. How was the parent to know where they were?

On the way out we played a trick on the last security officer before we left. The boys walked on one side and I the other. Sure enough, he stopped them. They pointed over to me and he told them to catch up with me and stay by my side. I acted like I didn't know them and the dude followed us out the parking lot.

It sho was fun. We're going back Friday night.

Impossible. Hence the months of therapy. Tell him my MUSCLES in the feet are still 100%. Can shift, roll, tip-toe, kick.

So as long as I can SEE my feet, my brain can "keep them in line" for balance, stepping on stairs, etc. Problem? If I'm walking and turn my head to talk to someone or look across the street, I fall flat! Broke my nose twice so far!

SO . . the therapy included BLINDFOLDING me and teaching my "inner ears" to work as the mechanism to "talk" to my foot muscles. After 1 month I was out of the wheelchair; 2 months out of crutches and now only using the cane when out for long walks (airports, etc) or very uneven ground where ANYONE might lose balance.

p.s. My feet DO have "feeling" just sporadic. You can poke a needle in my foot and I wouldn't even know it. But if I step on a piece of crayon on the floor, it can feel like a knife cutting it.

Also I have phantom limb syndrome. So get sharp pains or burning pains in my foot sent to the brain . . only it's because of a short-circuit in the nerves. The feet are actually dead.

Kinda gross, but hope that helps him understand.

Good Morning All!

I am getting in some posting before the grands get up!

They are leaving for Wisconsin shortly after breakfast this morning. :(

It has been four fun-filled (but noisy) days. It will take me two days to get the house back in order.

I sure have missed being around this Coffee House, but I will get back in the swing of things soon! :D

I always enjoy visits from the children and grandchildren.

But I've gotten used to a quiet house - so when they come - it's bedlem - and though I love them dearly - and am glad to see them - there's a certain sense of relief when they go home - and I get my house back again!

I know exactly what you mean Dan!

Well, the house is waking up, so I must go and cook breakfast.

Will get back when I can!
