Hey, next, why don't we start a "Adulterers who you like" thread, or how about a "My favorite thief" thread?

How can you "like" someone going against God's word?

My wife is my personal pastor. She knows what I need. She loves me enough stick the pin in and at other times encourages me. She accepts me but also helps me to do better.

She is the greatest and most attractive lady I know. She is my bride everyday. She makes me feel glad that I have her as my bride.

I don't know any woman pastors and don't want to since they're not biblical.

Argh, you beat me to it! That is exactly what I was going to say. :tongue3:

I went to a Methodist service a few years ago and the "pastor" was a woman. I did not like it at all. It felt wrong. I never went back.

Sometimes what seems to be suspected comes to light: some people have way too much time on theuir hands to be discussing certain topics.

This thread causes mcuh ridicule on the behalf of Bible believers from the lost world.

On vacation 2 years ago, we went to a Baptist church on the island we were on. Turns out it was ABC and there was a woman pastor and ALL women deacons. It was all run by women! The message was OK - nothing exciting - and they seemed to be VERY into the "social gospel" sort of thing. I was so uncomfortable as was DH but we figured we'd see how it turned out. I know we'll not be going back - although the mug we got is pretty nice (it's one of only two mugs we have on the boat since we're so careful about things that can break but I like my tea in a real mug so I took it LOL).

 Well, I guess women pastors are good for something. I like free mugs.:tongue3:

What do you all think about Ann Graham Lotz? I wouldn't call her a pastor but she certainly sounds like a preacher when she's in front of a group.

She's an evangelist.

Preaching can be giving the gospel and done by anyone, and/or it can be done by a pastor. Lotz is not a pastor -she does not pastor a church.

I guess my point is that there is a distinct difference between being the pastor of a church and preaching. My mother used to preach to my sister and me a lot and still does sometimes.

Quotes from the "Center for Progressive Christianity" beliefs page...

"Have found an approach to God through the life and teachings of Jesus."

Could be better, but I'm fine with it.

"The life and teachings of Christ are not what Christianity is based on, and believing in such has never saved anyone."

Heresy

"Recognize the faithfulness of other people who have other names for the way to God's realm, and acknowledge that their ways are true for them, as our ways are true for us."

Pure heresy

"Find more grace in the search for understanding than we do in dogmatic certainty - more value in questioning than in absolutes."

Heresy.

I know those quotes are not from Barbara Brown Taylor, but from an organisation she supports.

The fact that she could support it...in light of those statements up there...causes me to pretty much dismiss her as being someone credible, from a Christian point of view.

That is my quote, a response to this.....Quote:
"Have found an approach to God through the life and teachings of Jesus."

The life & teachings of Christ mean nothing without his substitutionary death & resurrection. You can preach the teachings & life of Christ yer whole life, nobody will be saved. Salvation is in the blood, and there is nary a reference to such on the whole of the CPC statement of faith.

That may be true, and probably is, but I wasnt commenting on any of that. I was only commenting on the statement...

"Have found an approach to God through the life and teachings of Jesus."

...and that statement is fine. You and I have both been born again as a result of our "approach to God through the life and teachings of Jesus.", which include His shed blood on our behalf for the forgiveness of our sins.

The other statements are heresy, and that organization is probably ultra liberal and full of lost people.

The website for the Center for Progressive Christianity seems to be a good example of the new inter-spirituality movement. This has been coming for years via people like Richard Rohr (a favorite of Brian McLaren's), Marcus Borg (he can count some of the Emergents as big fans), and others.

Not sure if this is what you meant but I will comment on it and you can expound if want.

Evangelizing is not the same thing as the office of the Evangelist/being an Evangelist and should never be confused as being one and the same.

Uh- is this a good place to note that both 'pastor' and 'evangelist' are spiritual gifts and not offices?

Just wonderin'!

Well, I was just pointing out that she is an evangelist, not a pastor.
