How do we reconcile these two lists? Most people have no problem doing that, especially saved people.

Howdy GE as you can plainly read our rest with Jesus has not yet begun. According to above scripture its when he returns. You will notice that the flaming fire of vengeance also destroys them that do not “obey” the good news.
REVELATIONS 20 [4] And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
Our rest with Jesus begins with the 1000 yr period of rest spoken of in Revelations. That’s soon after the flaming fire of 2Thes.1. Theres that 1000yr period of rest that you have some problem with
ISAIAH 66 [22] For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the Lord, so shall your seed and your name remain. [23] And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and FROM ONE SABBATH TO ANOTHER, SHALL ALL FLESH COME TO WORSHIP before me, saith the Lord. [24] And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.
Seems that even during the 1000 yr period of rest his people will still be keeping the sabbath. Jesus is the same today, yesterday and forever!
PSALMS 132 [8] Arise, O LORD, into thy rest; thou, and the ark of thy strength.[9] Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints shout for joy.[10] For thy servant David's sake turn not away the face of thine anointed.[11] The LORD hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.[12] if thy children will KEEP MY COVENANT AND MY TESTIMONY that i shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon thy throne for evermore.[13] For the LORD hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.[14] This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.
Arise into thy rest, this is my rest for ever. And the children of God will also enter this rest IF they keep his covenant (law) and his testimony (of Jesus). Not one or the other

The bottom line is... believe the scriptures over what youve been taught by your denomination. It shall come to pass in that day (verse 3) the LORD shall give thee rest. Verse 7 says at that time the whole world is at rest. All the bad guys will be gone. 2Thes.1 tells us why. Theres gonna be a fire! The whole world is not at rest at this point in time. Our resting with Jesus will not begin until he returns and sets up his kingdom. The land he promised as an inheritance.
ISAIAH 14 [1] For the Lord will have mercy on Jacob, and WILL YET CHOOSE ISRAEL, and set them in their own land: and THE STRANGERS shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob. [2] And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place: and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the Lord for servants and handmaids: and they shall take them captives, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors. so do all the demons in hell but it does not save them. You will not find a single demon that does not believe in Jesus or the Holy Spirit or God the Father as they are in constant battle with God. Satan knows and believes the Bible is God's word and knows it better than you do.
What he is asking is for you to give your testimony of how the Lord saved you, when, and where in regard to a relationship experience not a library experience.
Chowman, If not in this life Jesus is your rest and you find your eternal rest in Him, He in the last day shall become your worst enemy, and no rest for you at all.
I'm sure you also believe this, but you want to get away from the Sabbath-rest of God's that still in this world and life remains valid for those whom "Jesus had given rest", i.e., for whom He had earned and given eternal salvation. You think only by having worked out your own salvation through 'perfection', you in the last day shall stand umblameable before the judgment throne of God. There is nothing more hopeless than that expectation.
Now there are more people who think like you. Some think they will have reached that 'needed' and 'required' perfection by disowning obedience to the Fourth Commandment; some think by obedience to the Fourth Commandment. But there's no difference between them or for them; neither will help them in the end. Christ saves without man's works of disobedience OR OBEDIENCE because He saves by grace which manifests through faith without works or with works but which in itself contributes nothing to one's salvation.

So we are looking for the Ahha moment when i was saved. A special moment in time when i have seen my salvation come
Romans 8:24-25
For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? [25] But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
So on what day were you saved?
As the writer wrote: "If Jesus had given them rest, God would NOT AGAIN speak of another day of salvation-opportunity." Hb4:8.
My question is whose the writer that wrote verse 8 of Hebrews in your bible. I know who wrote verse 8 in mine. Your writer sure does like to add unto the Word.

You say "one way," then name two things.
You make a mockery of John 14:6, and Ephesians 2:8-9...as well as trying to make salvation of human means.

This text says no such thing. The hope of salvation and doing the commandments are not one and the same. David's hope of salvation is expressed on his death bed (not that it occurred on his death bed) and it has nothing to do with his own personal obedience to God's law. Obedience to the law was due to love, not in order to get saved.
David was saved by faith in Christ (Acts 2) and out of love for Christ, he obeyed God's word. Your mixing apples with oranges

No, you are! The text says nothing about keeping the commandments of God IN ORDER TO remain or be saved. That is your inference not John's.

Here are some more scriptures that you can claim say we need not observe to keep Gods 10 commandments in order to be saved.
1 PETER 4 [17] For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?[18] And IF THE RIGHTEOUS SCARCELY BE SAVED, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
The above new covenant scipture clearly states that the righteous will be scarcely saved. So who are those that are righteous? What are they doing?
1JOHN2 [28] And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.[29] If ye know that he is righteous, YE KNOW THAT EVERY ONE THAT DOETH RIGHTEOUSNESS IS BORN OF HIM.
This new covenant scripture claims if you are born of God, you will be acting righteously.
DEUT.6 [25] And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the LORD our God, as he hath commanded us.

For ALL thy commandments are righteousness (even the keeping of the sabbath). Also mentioned here is salvation. Being saved.
ISAIAH 48 [17] THUS SAITH THE LORD, THY REDEEMER, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.[18] O THAT THOU HADST HEARKENED TO MY COMMANDMENTS! then had thy peace been as a river, and THY RIGHTEOUSNESS as the waves of the sea:
LORD-REDEEMER-HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL (no question as to who that is). The new testament says Jesus was the WORD of God that became flesh. The only WORD of God around when Jesus came was the old testament. In Isaiah OUR REDEEMER, the Holy One, Jesus Christ, tells us we are to keep the commandments if we are to be righteous.
The new testament says the same thing the old testament said. Is Jesus the same yesterday, today and forever? The “many” would have you to believe that that is not so.
1COR.15 [34] AWAKE TO RIGHTEOUSNESS, AND SIN NOT; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

I simply love the above new covenant scripture. Those that wish to do away with Gods 10 commandments cant do a song and dance around what Luke 1 verse 6 says so clearly.
PSALM 7 [6] ARISE, O LORD, in thine anger, lift up thyself because of the rage of mine enemies: and awake for me to the judgment that thou hast commanded.[7] So shall the congregation of the people compass thee about: for their sakes therefore return thou on high.[8] The LORD shall judge the people: JUDGE ME, O LORD, ACCORDING TO MY RIGHTEOUSNESS, and according to mine integrity that is in me.[9] Oh LET THE WICKEDNESS OF THE WICKED COME TO AN END; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins.
You have heard some people say that we will not be judged by our own righteousness. We only need believe in Jesus and his righteousness and nothing more. Psalm 7 speaks of the time when Christ shall return to this earth to judge the people. Read it for yourself. Its very clear.
After reading all these scripture about being righteous, lets keep in mind who will be saved according to new covenant scripture

Jesus fulfilled the Law, and the 10 Commandments are the foundation of the Law. Jesus fulfilled all the Law, not part. To say we must return back to that which is fulfilled to remain saved, be saved, or continue in sanctification makes you a transgressor of Christ.
Gal 2:16 yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.
Gal 2:17 But if, in our endeavor to be justified in Christ, we too were found to be sinners, is Christ then a servant of sin? Certainly not!
Gal 2:18 For if I rebuild what I tore down, I prove myself to be a transgressor.
