Be Thankful Thanksgiving Thread

Great post. Just haven't had time to list everything. I hope everyone feels the same way.

 

There is a LOT to be thankful for...

I have a wife who is God's gift to me. We celebrated 33 years of marriage this year. We're still like kids at the prom. Next to Jesus, she is God's best possible gift!

I have two sons, both grown and on their own. The youngest has found his bride to be, and will be married in August of the coming year. His fiancé is a girl that we raised in our own home for 8 years when we did home-based day care. She is already our daughter and a perfect wife-to-be for our son. The oldest celebrated his 7th anniversary this year to a girl that we had the privilege of leading to the Lord in Sunday school during their high school years. Before they ever began dating, I had the privilege of riding next to her on a bus trip to Mexico for a mission trip. We learned to love each other long before I had the honor of officiating their marriage. They have given us two REMARKABLE grandchildren, Jacob (almost 4) and Eden (almost 1).

I am still working... That is something in this economic climate, and if I manage to continue my employment, this will be the first recession we've been able to ride out without starting over from scratch, broke, scared, and hurting. I am VERY thankful. More so, I get to manage the wonderful grounds on the campus of Southern Seminary -- a trial on some days, with high expectations and a small work force -- but also a godly blessing to be able to minister to so many students, faculty, and visitors. Sort of like tending the Garden of Eden on most days!

Our health is good, and neither my wife or I need to be on any special meds. We both need to loose some weight, but that seems to be the American way these days and we're working on it. For every day above ground we praise God anew!

We are part of an AMAZING church that is spreading the gospel in so many ways. We watched from afar as the church grew from a 12-member plant 10 years ago to a mega-church of 2500+ today. We've now joined and are part of the process to reach ever more, planting new churches, and ministering to hurting (and not hurting!) people in the name of Jesus. Each week, we can count on fresh and vibrant worship, hearing the gospel (Bible) preached, and a celebration of communion with our Lord.

We have plenty... Enough to help and give others, and we're been practicing the simple life for decades (a result of prior necessity, but now a choice -- we give away, sell, or throw away one item each every day). Our goal is to be debt free and mobile to serve God wherever and whenever He calls.

We also have some "things" that are difficult to thank God for, but we praise Him for giving us reason to seek His face in prayer. Our oldest son has a rare nerve disorder that will probably radically change his life and may even shorten it. We praise God that he knows Christ so fully that he can simply say, 'God gives and God takes away, blessed be the name of the Lord!" We agree and realize that we'll not miss out on anything. We'll be united one day soon enough should he pass on to the real life to come before us. We struggle with getting our heads above water after years of starting over, and are concerned about retirement, but that is but a blip on our radar. We wish and pray for fruitful ministry opportunities, but that is difficult right now. In the mean time, we serve as we can and bless who God sends us.

Yes, we are very thankful!

 

Well both Gina & Gil..... you have both had some challanges over the last few & just want you both to know your in my prayers. Have a blessed & joyful thanksgiving (to you & yours)

 

I am thankful for my wonderful husband of 16 years.
I'm thankful for my precious children and how they are tender-hearted towards God.
I'm thankful for friends, family, and all the God-given blessings too numerous to name here. Most of all, I'm thankful because God IS. Not just for what He's done, but for who he is--He is our everything!

 

If I really answered this, you would regret your invitation. But I like tuna casserole (with or without the 'fish' redundancy).

I hate the fact that I can't walk without pain... nor without a cane... and that too often I complain.

I'm unthankful that we have a holiday on which we make a big deal about giving thanks, then gluttonize ourselves, as if that's supposed to show it. After we've already thunk somebody (including God), I don't think we need to carry it to ironic extremities.

That's all folks ... for now.

 

That my pipes and wall have been fixed, and to top it all off, they were fixed by a good looking man.

Praise God!

I am thankful that I have life, and that I belong to a God who is loving and merciful.

 

This IS the day the Lord has made. I WILL rejoice and be glad in it. God leaves me no option regardless of my estate.

I'm thinking of being thankful for a piece out of one of the warm pumkin pies sitting on the counter...un-quarded!

 

I am grateful I was not killed crossing the road in Christchurch.

I woke to the beauty of creation this morning. I have all my limbs, my brain has not fallen out of head.

I am so fortunate where others have never had the opportunities I have had. Deo gratias.
