probably for the same reason some people use their signature line for a sermon or a commercial.

Being a Brit, I have never tried "translating" New Zealand English into American English. Maybe if she were an American, Briony Gloria might have put something like:

"Same with extra-long posts. Sheesh! I didn't join the BB to read dissertaions! Me, I reckon 4 sentences is long enough."
Seriously, though, I agree with the OP that it is wrong to quote a whole post when you are replying just to a part of it. (Looking back at some of my own previous posts, I have to confess that I have far too often quoted big, unnecessary chunks.) On the other hand, not quoting at all has often led to confusion, particularly if a little time has passed between the message and the reply. No quoting at all can leave doubt aboutwhich message the person is replying to.

Perhaps the confusion comes from slipping off the main topic too often. Keep in line folks and avoid the tailbacks. Stop off at a layby and take stock.

    Cheers,

Didnt work - since it was so long, didnt even look at the "quotes" just came down to your new post.

And that is the entire point of the OP.

Yep - see, I'll peek at the quotes to see which they are quoting but I won't read through the whole thing again.
