The Bible on drugs and drug-dealing

I previously posted some links on this in other threads, but obviously its such an important subject, and drugs including alcohol have had such a devastating impact on North America, that this deserves to be exposed again.

First of all, drugs really are noticed and mentioned in the Bible, even the old King James Bible (marginal note):

"‘DRUG ABUSE’. Not often mentioned in the Bible, but the principles derived from alcohol abuse would apply to modern drugs, and it is true that the King James Authorized Version of 1611 does still carry a marginal reference at Deut. 29:18 that is in the majority of English printings."

Drug dealing is treated gravely and severely condemned in the New Testament: 5 times.

Paul Spoke out against Drug Dealing:

Gal 5:20 "Now the works of the flesh are OBVIOUS: sexual immorality, uncleanness, ... DRUG DEALING ( pharmakeia )...and things like these I am warning you, THOSE WHO DO THEM WILL NOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD!"

John also Speaks out against Drugs:

Rev. 9:21 "Nor did they even repent of their murders or their DRUG DEALING (ton pharmakon) or their sexual immorality or their robbery."

Rev 22:15 "OUTSIDE (heaven) are the dogs and the DRUG DEALERS (hoi pharmakoi), and everyone who practises falsehood."

Rev 18:23 Babylon the Great City has fallen...All nations were deceived by your DRUG DEALING (en te pharmakeia)"

Rev 21:8 "But as for the ...DRUG DEALERS (pharmakois) their place will be in the Lake of Fire, which is the Second Death!"

Do you realize the profits being made by people who open up stores to sell legal pot to people for health reasons. I would get into that business myself if my state was to legalize it for medical reasons. It wont be long before the pharma chain stores will be doing it anyway so why not open up a store where there is a need?

You make a good point. Marajuana once considered a recreational and gateway drug is now being used for medical purposes at great wealth to "legitimate" drug business. However I wonder if Pfizer or others are really legitimate. Has any one seen the Constant Gardner? That some good insite into big pharmacology business and how currupt they are as well. Maybe Nazaroo shouldn't differentiate betweent the two!!!!

You take the greek word Pharmakea and postulate drug use when the scriptures indicate witchcraft as translation which Pharmakea also means. How do you emphasise one use over the other?

Anyway, pharmakeia means the use of drugs and potions in witchcraft and/or idolatrous ceremonies and not illegal drug use, per se.

IQ is mostly a measure of cultural absorption.
But mensa has newer and better tests.

Einstein, obviously quite brilliant, would have scored quite low in a variety of important categories, like American history, politics, linguistics (most IQ tests in the USA are based on English comprehension and exposure).
But he would have scored near-perfect in the geometry categories (no guarantee he would spot the trick questions on a first pass: his education was after all based on turn of the century German scholarship).
