How Would You define the "Baptism In the Holy Ghost" From Scripture?

As I know while in assemblies of God, they had it as a second distinct act of Grace after salvation!

Baptism means to fully immerse/cover completely up/over. So, when we are saved, we are completely immersed/baptized with the Holy Ghost. Not to speak in tongues as the Pentecostals believe/preach, but being placed IN CHRIST by this baptism.

So ALL believers in Jesus are "baptised" in HS at conversation correct?

Act of His to place us spiritually into Body of Christ?

One of my pastors made this statement: "When the Lord saves you, you get all the Holy Spirit you're going to get. But sometimes the Holy Spirit doesn't always get all of you." He was saying there's only one indwelling (or baptism)of the HS, and that is at conversion.

He said we can have subsequent fillings with the Spirit. For instance, Acts 4, after Peter and John were thrown into prison, they were hauled before the High Priest and other leaders and questions.

V. 8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit,......

This suggests to me that fillings are a special work of the Holy Spirit on specific occasions. They seem to be related to empowerment. Or possibly the conferring of the power of the Holy Spirit onto individuals.

The passage is not suggesting that the Spirit came upon Peter and filled him. Peter was already filled from the day of Pentecost and he simply spoke because of the filling he already had.

Think Tom here is right though, as the Bible says that when they were "filled" with the HS that their entire building shook!

That when the HS came upon them in Acts, was empowered to preach jesus and to do miracles/healings/prophesying in His name!

So there DOES seem to be times when the HS moves in and through us in "special" ways..

You know what answer you will get on this board....why even try?

Just curious to the answer, as believe there are some here, in the minority for sure, but still open to concept of the Lord still doing "something" in this present age!

Then the building needs to shake today also to verify it.

Either that, or else have people so full of the HS and His enabling that people know that "jesus" was in their midst!

As His people would be reflecting Him to a sinful society that REALLY needs His Light!

No one ever had the Spirit like the Lord Himself while He was here and the people did not know He was in their mist. The Baptism of the Spirit is done at salvation and is not a second blessing. From that time on it is up to us to use what we have been given.

Agree that there is NO second act of grace, ALL Christians receive same Holy Spirit at rebirth, just that all are indwelt by HS, but not all filled by Him!

Onee of the signs of a frresh infilling bu Him will be powerful witmess/boldness, and others will see the "difference" God living through us can be... Either will accept it/reject it, but they will know there is "something" going on!

The filling is up to us, not Him. We are the ones commanded to be filled. He is not deciding when and who.
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
And yes with they filling others will notice, but it is up to us to be filled and it is to be all the time.
The passage would read continually be ye being filled with the Spirit. It is not a one time or momentary thing. It is a command to reside in that state which is a command we have and a choice we make. One more thing. It does not happen because we ask for it (through prayer). It happens because we do it.

It is an act of our own wills to allow the HS to be in control of us, that we have to choose to submit to Him daily fashion!

That is what the filling is. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; and very few do it.

So you believe it is you who calls out for the indwelling of the HS & not the other way around? Its you that beacons, correct? Of course, I'm also assuming your not a Calvinist.
