Would you agree with this?
They preached the gospel, because they had been given the promise of the Holy Spirit from heaven.
Paul asked this question. Gal. 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
Of course the hearing of faith is the correct answer. What did Jesus the Christ himself say concerning the Holy Spirit being given to one?
John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
The Comforter is the Holy Spirit to be sent from heaven is it/He not? The promise of the Holy Spirit would not and I say could not be given sent to the sheep unless Jesus did go away, whatever that means.
Is this the truth or not?
Galatians 3:22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise (of the Holy Spirit) by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. (That believe, the sheep.)
Why can none that read these forums not understand that, the faith, they were hearing of by which they received the Holy Spirit was Jesus the Christ going away, dying on the cross see Gal. 2:20,21 and 3:1.
The faith of Jesus Christ was him dying on the cross. Poured out his soul (life blood) unto death. The soul is the blood.
BTW that preceded mercy, and grace. And in one of those we find regeneration.
Acts 10 :
39 “We are witnesses of everything he did in the country of the Jews and in Jerusalem. They killed him by hanging him on a cross, 40 but God raised him from the dead on the third day and caused him to be seen. 41 He was not seen by all the people, but by witnesses whom God had already chosen—by us who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. 42 He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead. 43 All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”
Acts 1:4
On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about.
Acts 2
The Holy Spirit Comes at Pentecost
2 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues[Or languages; also in verse 11] as the Spirit enabled them.
1 Peter 1:12
It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.
Ephesians 1:13
And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,
Romans 11 :
20 Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but tremble. 21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either.
22 Consider therefore the kindness and sternness of God: sternness to those who fell, but kindness to you, provided that you continue in his kindness. Otherwise, you also will be cut off.
2 Peter 1 :
3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
5 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.
10 Therefore, my brothers and sisters,[The Greek word for brothers and sisters (adelphoi) refers here to believers, both men and women, as part of God’s family.] make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, 11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Psalm 22:5
To You they cried out and were delivered; In You they trusted and were not disappointed.
John 20 :
29 Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
Hebrews 11 :
3 By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.
2 Corinthians 4:18
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
I was included with the elect when I heard the Gospel of my salvation having believed. If God did not pick the elect there will be no one spreading the message. They are nothing Jesus is everything. The one who sends the messenger is greater than the messenger. God could pick a donkey, a burning bush, a worm to be His messengers, but it does not mean they are saved by the Holy Spirit that sent them, only those who trust in the one who sends will be saved. The Jews is an example how much election can save a man without trusting in the one who elects.
Jude 1:
5 Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord[Some early manuscripts Jesus] at one time delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe.
