Given the vitriol that is spewed on this Board, publicly and in private messages I think it would be wise to read what God through James the brother of our Lord Jesus Christ has to tell us.

James 3:1-12
1. My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.
2. For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.
3. Behold, we put bits in the horses’ mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.
4. Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.
5. Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!
6. And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
7. For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind:
8. But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
9. Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.
10. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.

11. Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?
12. Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.

Not only on this board, but our local churches. Gossip is rampant, a serious sin, and we ignore it, do not deal with it. We gossip about all the sins we worry about, like lottery tickets dancing, and playing the fiddle at 2am on Tuesday.

As a local church, headed by Jesus Christ, there should be no tolerance of gossip, and it should be nipped in the bud. As far as the bitterness, that also extends to boards of deacons that think they are a governing body, cliques of jerks, and any other group that think they are something special. The local congregation should address such as it poisons the spirit of the church, hurts its witness, and hampers the Lord's work. A local congregation should have no fear of any deacon or "pillar of the church" that thinks they are in charge.

That goes for this board also. As has been addressed before, the word heresy is used here to mean a disagreement on an opinion, not doctrine. There is no position on either extreme that the word heretic should be used in the areas of KJVO, Calvinism vs free will, creation, end times, dispensationalism.

Many people on this board feel their opinion is doctrine, even those who have been to years of seminary. For example, if two people are debating, it is one thing to say "I feel you are totally off base because the verse actually says......", but quite another to say "You have to be a heretic to believe such a notion. When was the last time you read your Bible? Have you ever bothered to examine your salvation experience?"

Gossip is NOT rampant in the church. Whoever told you this, told you wrong. BTW, who told you? I'll make sure their Pastor, Elders, and Deacons find this out, to stop it. :D :wavey:

I find it ironic that some who proclaim their adherence to Scripture and a Christ-like walk are the worst offenders here. I have never been called a child of Satan, later Satan himself until yesterday here on this site.

Check your medical insurance policy and see if they cover removing ear plugs from the ears and can take out the rose colored glasses you have super glued to your temples. LOL

I do not read all threads here, but that should have never been said about anyone. Those type of terms, including heretic, have no place here. I once got dinged for calling someone an idiot, but have never questioned someone's salvation. It is amazing that especially those who have been to seminary, who are pastors or leaders in a local church would use such terms. Of all people, one would think they would know the difference between doctrine and opinion. The only time terms like that are justified are something that denies the diety of Christ, or a basic element of Gospel. Frivoulous arguements like Calvinism and Bible versions do not rise to that level.

It is ironic, but I think you will find the same person that called you those names is the one I got dinged on for calling him or her an idiot some months back.

I see that you have copied and pasted the truth but have you read it?

I must assume the above was a private message. I received one with a similar accusation. I reported the offender but so far nothing has been done. In the interest of Christian harmony on this forum I intend to publish the letter if the sender does not change the tenor of his posts!

In my response to Arbo I stated that in the interest of Christian harmony on this forum I intend to publish the letter if the sender does not change the tenor of his posts! It is obvious that neither you or your buddy have any intention of entering honest discussion!

My friend your mindless rejecting of the word of God is blasphemous. You hate the truth and make things up as you go twisting scripture like your father the devil.

As I stated to Arbo I reported the above [Received 8/7/12] but have received no response.

If there is an offensive private message between you and someone else, how would any public action such as you propose be in the interest of Christian harmony within the big picture? What kind of punishment would you like to see the sender receive?

Don't know a faster way to find yourself ooutside the BB and looking in than to publish private messages.

And calling someone a 'heretic' is a close second.

I have called no one a heretic! I [have said that the classic dispensationalist teaching that the Church is a "parenthesis" is a heresy because it denies the words of Jesus Christ in John 17:4. It is apparent that many of the Rapture Ready brand of dispensationalists on this board were unaware of this teaching.

It was also my understanding that questioning the salvation of a board member was cause for being banned. I see it is not.

What about calling another "Satan", or his son, or an "evil devil who is a oozing pus scab"?

At times, the rules seem more arbitrary for some than others.

In light of Dr. Bob's remarks I checked the posting rules. I could find nothing related to banning for posting a private message. I realize this is undesirable but I make no excuses and no apologies.

It is worth noting. I protested the private message yesterday and received no response. I posted the private message and Dr. Bob responded within 10 minutes. You figure! I have my own opinions!
