Spirit of Religion....
The church at Ephesus had "left their first love" (Rev. 2:4). When we read in Acts 19 at "first works" and "first love" we find certain truths.
The church at Ephesus were baptizing in water, laying hands on the people for the baptism of the Holy Spirit, magnifying God in tongues, casting out Demons, healing with prayer cloths, and being evicted from old way.
Did religion take over? Did their fire, passion and love go out? What was missing? was it the power of God; demons were no longer leaving, tongues were absent and miracles were simply a memory? A loveless routine of religious works replaced the power and passion of the Holy Spirit.
How many of our churches today are blinded by the demon of religion? To spiritual things? Just religious activities and traditions with no power!
