Please define what a Charismatic is, in your mind...

Knowing what you use to judge another a charasmatic would help to set the tone for this post.

And in response to your total disdain and disgust with charismatics, let me remind you that heaven will not be exclusively filled with Baptist that believe as you. Just sayin"!

    Well....

....negative is what negative does! I hope she relaizes that heaven will be full of all kinds and tyoes of believers. Tolerance will defintley be needed, but, I think, we'll be too overcome with joy to care. And if we do care about being along side of hand lifters, and tongue talkers, we may in fact, not be in heaven in the first place. :wavey:

What I use to judge is the word of God.

No, you're not "just sayin", you're just insulting. I don't have any disdain or disgust with charismatics. I have disdain for false doctrine.

I have been in that world. In fact when I was saved, that was the world I was thrust into, not knowing any better. I knew nothing of tongues, or healings, or anything about the Charismatic doctrines. I assumed it was all biblical and right because that's what other's were doing. But God showed me the error and took me out of that.

And it's not about being "negative". It's called discernment.

Point taken! I am sorry if I have offended anyone. My heart really was to share what I have come to learn as a Baptist. God knows my heart!

You might have all taken it as pushing charismtic beliefs on you! But I am not in a charismatic church..and I believe what the Bible says!

What I have shared on the most part..I have experienced myself..witnessed it myself. But no one could convince me before either! People would plant seeds of truth along my path....and I pray that some of what I shared will be a seed of truth that you will one day look back and see it for what it is! My heart is that all my baptist brothers and sisters would see it in His Word and experience it for themselves! There really is more to it than what we were taught!

Just because you are in a baptist church, does not mean you are not in a Charismatic Church. If your churches teaches the things you promote on this board, then it is a Charismatic Church, by the generally accepted definitions of what Charismatic Church is...it is a Charismatic Baptist Church.

Do you hold to the pentacostal theology of say the assemblies of God, or to the "Charasmatic Chaos" espoused by the hagins/Copelands/Hinn et cof the world?

I was over 10 yeras in assemblies of God, would see them as being a true christian church, almost like "Free Will ' baptist, with added distinctives of their tongues/gifts/Baptism in Holy Spirit , they could almost be seen as "Full Gospel" baptists!

they are classic pentacostal, the other side is chasmatics, and they are the bulk of the problem, as they are pretty much parroting word of faith/health/wealth/healing/prosperty by cultic and heretical teachers such as Hagin/Copeland/Roberts/Hinn/Price etc!

ALL depends upon WHICH "chasmatic" referring too here!

What if many of these ....hand lifters and supposed tongue talkers do not make it to heaven...as all liars are excluded?

Making believe you have a gift...when you do not...is a lie.In that day it will be truth...not TOLERENCE ...that will be in view.

Did I Step on Your Toe(s)??? So Sorry If I Did!

Finally, allow me to say, that whenever you and I discuss things, it ends up with you being judgmental. You often misread my posts, and fire back. I was simply thinking that if one is to truly engage with you on this issue/topic, a more in-depth explanation from you on what is charismatic and what is not should be stated in the post or somewhere along the way.

You have dodged the request, and fired back at me stating insulted you. That was not my intent, to insult you.

And as for the fact that I believe heaven will be filled with all types of folks, not just your particular strain of Baptists, is factual. The Lord says anyone who calls upon my name shall be saved! It doesn't separate Baptist for Assemblies, from Lutherans, to Pentecostals.

To believe that only your particular believes Will get a person to heaven is as shallow as the Jehovah Witnesses, and others. When a church or person begins to eliminate others from the final fellowship [in heaven] that is the early beginnings of false doctrine and cult like teachings.

And to add to my thoughts, heaven will be filled with many different types of Baptists, too!

Can I get a big "Amen?"

BTW - I say this all in love. Not judgment, or scorn. I'll be along side of you and many others on this board when we all get to heaven! :wavey:

You have compared me to Jehovah's witnesses and say my beliefs are shallow and you say you don't insult me??
I have NEVER said that only my particular brand of Baptists will be in heaven, NEVER! Charismania is a false doctrine whether you believe it or not and that doesn't make me judgmental. This a common tactic by people who don't like their beliefs questioned. If I don't agree with you, I'm judgmental. I have never attacked you personally, only the doctrine you hold.

    OH My...!

I'm not laughing because I have seen firsthand practical evidence ot eh kind of changes that begin when the music takes that kind of turn. Eventually, nearly all practical...and I think Biblical...standards of biblical conduct and practice are weakened or (in some cases) discarded entirely. The late, great Southside Baptist Church in Geenville SC were I was Baptised in 1977 is a perfect example. Ask John of Japan...he knows that one is true.

    Amy,
To me you are one of those rare posters on this board that I always seem to be in tune with. Your doctrine is solid, and you base your posts on the Bible. I do not think you have a judgemental or prejudice bone in your body. You took up for me last night while I was in it with one of the charasmatic types in another section. I agree with you totally. It seems there is a pattern of expecting us to be tolerant of unBaptist doctrine (to be nice about it), but have limits on defending our own. Thanks for all your posts.

    They be.......

They be Bapticostals brother....and yeah that is some messed up doctrine. I don't mind saying that because it is true. IT has been thoroughly discussed many times on this board. Not saying they aren't saved...but I never feel 100% comfortable because their discernment factor is so low.

Thank you so much. I am humbled. That is the nicest thing anyone could ever say to me. I have a true love for God's word and God Himself. And I agree about expecting to be tolerant about anything regardless of how unBaptist or unBiblical it is. This is a Baptist forum for Baptists to discuss things with other Baptists who share orthodox Baptist theology. At least it used to be.
