Possibly... OR a hilarious meme showing you the idiocy of gaining your theology from the internet.... I'll take option 2.

You still haven't answered my question from post 12 either

everyone on this board seems to order me for an answer to the question I originally posted in the first place--and fail themselves to even post on what they call the commandments that the Son of YAH was talking about :applause::applause:

are you people here scared to even try and answer this for your selves.

its apparent when you have NO answer that you all slip and slide around the question originally posted and try and put it back on the one who originally posted it. lol

No. See how this works is, I ask a question and you answer it. You ask a question and I answer it. It's called debate/discussion.

You have yet to ask a queston on this thread. I asked you one in post 12. Answer my question. And ask your own. I will respond. Promise.

Funny.

HW complains that I insulted him, but at the same time says his feelings are not hurt.

How is one insulted without getting his feelings hurt? LOL

Ooh, ooh, ooh...

I know the answer! Mr. Kotter, I know the answer!
(in my best Arnold Horshack voice)

Well I have no idea what the Mr. Kotter or Arnold Horshack references mean, but since HW doesn't want to participate in the discussion he was begging to have earlier... Fred can you enlighten us on the purpose of the Mosaic Law?

Mr Kotter and Arnold Horshack is in reference to a half-hour television sitcom back in the mid-70's called "Welcome Back, Kotter" Gabriel Kotter was a Jewish schoolteacher with a bunch of misfit students. Arnold was one of those students.

The Mosaic Law was given to the Israelites and to no other nation. It's purpose was to show them their sinfulness and to bring them to Christ.

Once one came to faith in Christ, that meant the end of the Law for that one. They were brought into a new law... the law of liberty.

Ah roger that. I'm 25 so... :tongue3:

Ding Ding Ding! We have a winner!

For as many as are of the works of the Law are under a curse; for it is written, "CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO DOES NOT ABIDE BY ALL THINGS WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF THE LAW, TO PERFORM THEM." ... Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us--for it is written, "CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO HANGS ON A TREE"-- ... Why the Law then? It was added because of transgressions, having been ordained through angels by the agency of a mediator, until the seed would come to whom the promise had been made. - Galatians 3:10, 13, 19 NASB

But before faith came, we were kept in custody under the law, being shut up to the faith which was later to be revealed. Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith. - Galatians 3:23-24 NASB

The Law came in so that the transgression would increase; but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, even so grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. - Romans 5:20-21 NASB

I really want to focus on this verse:

Why the Law then? It was added because of transgressions, having been ordained through angels by the agency of a mediator, until the seed would come to whom the promise had been made. - Galatians 3:19 NASB

Paul asks a very good question. If the law couldn't save, and the gospel promise was made 430 years before hand, what was the purpose of the Law?

"It was added because of transgressions"! or it was added to define/ or make plain transgression/sin. Paul goes so far in Romans to say that the law came to INCREASE SIN! God wanted everyone to see that even His Elect nation, the nation He redeemed from the Egyptians, the nation that he had set His affection on and gave every advantage possible to, was UTTERLY INCAPABLE OF OBEDIENCE!

Now look at this: "It was ADDED.." The Law was new at Sinai! It was a new expression of the commands of God. It was not in place previously, but was ADDED at Sinai.

And look here: "until the seed would come to whom the promise had been made" It was added UNTIL the SEED came. That seed was Christ (Gal 3:16).

So the Law was ADDED UNTIL Christ came. In other words, the Mosaic Law (as a whole) was TEMPORARY! The Mosaic covenant is not the Covenant the church lives under as that Old Covenant has been abolish in the cross of Christ.

by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace, - Ephesians 2:15 NASB

When He said, "A new covenant," He has made the first obsolete. But whatever is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to disappear. - Hebrews 8:13 NASB

having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. - Colossians 2:14 NASB
