Not true. Florida and the Southwest were first settled by Spanish speakers.
Louisiana was settled by French speakers.

Not necessarily. Check into your history on how many Germans never learned English. There were still German radio stations up to the beginning of WW II.

We really do not know how many came legally and how many came illegally. Of course at first there were no laws ... anyone could come.

There was a time when if you arrived with no papers, but had a critical skill you were allowed in and a form was stamped WOP 'Without Papers'.

I'm pretty sure I wrote ILLEGAL immigrant, not "undocumented worker". But, see what you've been programmed to see, I suppose.

Oh, I don't know--A company's desire to sell their products to Hispanics?

According to the 2010 US Census there are 50.5 million Hispanic/Latino people living in the U.S. According to a Pew Research investigation there are 7 million illegal Hispanic/Latino immigrants living in the U.S. According to a DHS study there are 6.6 million illegal Hispanic/Latino immigrants in the U.S.

So, about 13.8% of Hispanics living in the U.S. are living here illegally. Now, how many of those illegal Hispanics sit at home and watch the TV shows that Target and Tide advertise on?

Do you really want to suggest that these commercials are targeted at lower income illegal immigrants that make up 13.8% of the spanish speaking population?

    Im being real life honest:laugh:

I have a friend, a Russan immigrant who comes here & works for years to get enough capital to start a little coffee shop/deli/lunch counter & he puts it right by the train station comming in & out of NYC. This is the guys dream & he is prepared to put his neck on the line to make a successful small business. So he opens the place, is there every day at 4AM (with different coffee's, bagels, pastry, newspapers etc.) Now its in a city which was pretty much taken over by the Latino communities. And they wont buy a thing from this guy---even though he has the location closest to the train station. What they do is buy from their own....even if they have to go 2 blocks over, out of the way & pay more for it. This poor Russian guy even hired a Latino worker that knows the language & is from the area....to make sandwiches & serve. They even play Latin music & installed a TV playing a local Latin station. Still they wont even buy a cup of Joe from the guy.....but they will.....oh you know.

Now lets talk about fairness & integration.....Doesn't exist here. And Americans (and I consider that Russian Guy who got here legally & is trying to run a business, an American citizen) are supposed to give these illegals a fair shake....a path to being USA Citizens? RIGHT!!!

You do understand the difference between legal and illegal immigration, do you not? I read nothing in the article about illegal Spanish-speakers, yet you have made the contention that this is what the article is about. Show me that I am wrong.

I'm beginning to think that you think America is only for those born here...an idea which I could not disagree with you more adamantly.

I came here legally. I am an American citizen. America is as much my country as it is yours.
