So last night I didn't have a ride once again to church so I hooked the trailer to the John Deere tractor, loaded the Kids up, and away we went. On the way there I saw a group of kids walking along with a woman who dressed like a man. She had man like hair cut, tattoos, a ring in her lip, ect. I stopped and asked where they were going and she told me they were just out for a walk. Then she asked where I was going and I told her my Church was having its last night of revival and I was otw there. She said she had been wanting to get her children into church so I said if you want to learn about Jesus Christ then jump in the wagon. They piled up in the wagon and away we went. Otw I was a bit scared of how the other people in the church would take this odd character because I'm new at the church myself. When we got to church all the people welcomed them with open arms and was tickled to death that I had picked up some new people to hear the Gospel.

Now I don't support homosexuality...it's wrong. But refusing this person and denying her the opportunity to hear the gospel is more wrong! Especially her children who are not at fault. And just to put this into context this is a southern white church in the backwoods of Kentucky where lifestyles like this aren't accepted well like in other places. But the fact that this country Baptist church welcomed her with love and compassion further proves to me I'm worshipping in the right place. Love god...and love your neighbor! Now I don't know this woman's heart but she heard the Gospel last night and I saw her shaking her head in agreement with the praise going out to Jesus. She had been invited back to Church Sunday morning and I hope and pray that God touches her heart and maybe she will change her ways. It is possible because with God all things are possible !!!!

Anyway today I feel good that God had softened my heart and showed me that even the weirdest of people deserve to be loved and given a chance to hear the Gospel. Used to I wouldn't sit in the same room with a homosexual. But a homosexual is no worse than a theif and both can be corrected and repented from. I look forward to seeing what God can do with this person if she allows him to enter her life and follow his commands.

I welcomed you to the Baptist Board in your other thread, and I still do. So don't take me as being mean or rude ...... just cynical. I tend to be cynical.

Something about this post doesn't smell right. If I'm wrong, I'm humbly sorry.

First of all, you just happen to meet a gay woman (who also apparently has sex with men if she has kids) walking down the road who had been wanting to get into church? Just that randomly?

Secondly, that women's sexual orientation doesn't concern me so much as her quite RANDOMLY piling up her kids and going off with a strange man that she doesn't know to a place that she doesn't know where they are going?

Lastly, all I can say is GOOD GRAVY!! She wears pants, has short hair, and bears tattoos and you deem her as a lesbian? Did you ask her if she was gay? Did she tell you she was gay? Don't you find that a little judgmental?

Sorry in advance if you are telling the truth. Cynicism is just in my DNA.

No offense taken sir. Some clarification will help

Yes this was random. Just a nice Friday evening and they were out walking. The kids were smiling and waving at us so I stopped. And yes I did ask. I was confused about whether it was a man or a woman so I asked. Apparently only 1'of the children was hers and the other 2 was a niece and one a nephew. She also volunteered to tell me she was Gay and if I didn't feel comfortable giving them a ride then she wouldn't be offended. I said nonsense. Also you could see the church about a quarter mile ahead so it was obviouse that's where I was going dressed in my Sunday best. If you read my post you will see that I told her I was going to the church and she said that she had been wanting to get those kids into church. So no time better than the present so I invited them to church and gave them a ride.

Also in this small rural community I guess there isn't such a fear of strangers. Different culture than where you are possibly. I was just a country boy with a wagon full of kids heading to church. Where I'm from you wave at everyone who passes by and you stop to give a hand to those who are in need. Just southern hospitality I guess. I guess there was no reason to fear me when I had 2 kids of my own riding along.

Also....where am I going to take them on a farm tractor in broad daylight and harm them lol. Maybe I'm just to ignorant of the evils going on in this world to give it much thought.

I don't know why it is - but I can NEVER go to any Christian forum and read more than two or three posts before someone mentions homosexuality. Why is it singled out so much? So many Christians seem fixated with it.

The point of my story wasn't really to address homosexuality. It was about compassion and love for others whoever they may be. This person probably feared going to church and hopefully the love we showed her will change her life. The same goes for the man on drugs, the thieves, drunkards ect. People can all change for the better when people show them love and introduce them to Jesus Christ. And also the point being that becoming a Christian has softened my heart torwards things I once rejected.

I'm quickly learning that nothing said on this forum isn't met with criticism :tonofbricks:

I'm sorry, Jonny. I didn't mean to sound so angry. It wasn't aimed at you, just a general observation that so many, many people seem to single out this subject. We look down on people because of their sexual orientation and judge their sins as being worse than our own. We too are sinners. Every one of us.

It's a shame JohnnyReb. Unfortunately you're going to encounter some of the nasiest attitudes (not talking about you Andy) under the guise of Christianity you'd ever imagine on this board. Keep on loving others regardless of who questions your motives. Keep right on loving them out of the overflow of Christ's love for you.

    Amen!

Maybe it's because dealing with sexuality is harder than dealing with say a drunk? It's not a subject that the church had to deal with not that long ago. Gay people are in the open now where they wasn't much 50 years ago. So how to deal with them is a relatively new subject I think.

But I think the answer is simple....love them and introduce them to Christ. He will do the rest of the work :godisgood:

Probably because homosexuality is an issue (among others) that is at the forefront of political, cultural, and religious concern today.

No Scarlett, actually I was not. You and I may disagree a lot, but you're actually quite pleasant in your disagreeing in comparison to several others.:flower:

I might take a pedophile to church tomorrow. Maybe the warm fuzzies will convert him.

    Absolutely correct.

But is it possible--just possible, mind you--that homosexuality gets more attention because people are telling us that we have to accept this particular sin as being normal and okay?

I mean, when was the last time you saw a television show or read a news article that said adultery was good, acceptable, and/or even beneficial? Or gluttony? Even TV shows tend to portray fat people as lonely and unloved, thereby making a comment about how gluttony can be harmful. When was the last time you read a book or saw a movie that involved adultery where it was actually beneficial to a relationship?

JohnnyReb -- good on ya. Keep pickin' 'em up.

Think maybe it could be that it's because this sin is the only one that has a life of it's own, and demands that we not only accept it but legalize it??

Or maybe because it's the only one that feels that it has "civil rights" just like people??

Or perhaps it because it's the only sin that feels like it is akin to racial prejudice so that any, ANY, word spoken against it automatically brands the speaker a homophobe, judgmental, hate speech(er), etc, etc.!!

Or maybe ----- well, surely you get the idea by now!?

Frankly, most of us would be content to forget this perversion if the participants just did their thing behind closed doors and didn't feel the need to "come out" and try to convince us that they're A-OK with it, "and by /)&)~€~\¥ you're gonna be OK with it too!"

If they shut up, most of us will also; but until then ----!

The majority of today's modern churches have abandoned the stand against the things that God hates. Tolerance is the general rule nowadays.

Perhaps that is why the Apostle Paul warned:

"For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them."

The Church has become so complacent that practically any and all sin is overlooked or ignored. People can get to Heaven on their own terms seems to be the message of the Church today.

And yet, the Bible delivers to us an entirely different message.

May I suggest sharing the gospel with the pedophile instead? We shouldn’t negate our responsibility to witness by simply bringing the lost to church, but instead reach out to share the gospel with others (plus men cannot convert the lost – but they can be converted).

But if you do, make sure that they can legally attend your church (they couldn’t in my state).
