I wonder what forum he will join up with next? A while ago he lamented the fact that his digital footprint might be all over the internet and others posted links of several areas where Evan6589 has been found. He is a prolific internet poster on forums, going back to the old USENET days.

I don't think he can quit visiting/posting on forums, he might take a break from BB, but I'd guess he's already scouting out other boards, or maybe he'll update his website.

Perhaps a word of advice is due those who would take a hiatus or post less.

It is not necessary to make a public announcement of your intentions as it tends to garner upon you more of from what you're attempting to get away.

Shoot the folks you want to know a PM and make like Nike and just do it. No public proclamations needed.

Evangelist, keep sharing the Gospel every opportunity you get. And a word of caution. Don't lose focus. If you're going to be an evangelist, it's not necessary to persuade people about ISSUES. Your focus is about sharing the Gospel and seeing folks come to faith in Christ. Deal with the issues by sharing the Gospel more and making more disciples.

    Be well.:1_grouphug:

Your problem here is the same one that many other people have - you are self absorbed. You seem to think that your activities are superior and worthwhile, and everybody else is wrong, wasting time, going in the wrong direction, etc.

You ask why people are so judgmental yet you don't understand that you are the same way.

Every time you type all I see is "Why can't everybody just be like me?"

Most people could care less if you go or stay but one thing is for sure, dramatic forum exits are pretty ridiculous and are always the virtual equivalent of a red-faced little kid packing up their toys and going home.

Have you read the book "When Christians Should Let Things Drop"? It's written by a Wesleyan, but it has the essentials correct so I was blessed by it.

Sounds like something I read on a tract that was on my window wiper last week.

Don - I am not disagreeing with you and your observations, I am just saying that if people do not like what this brother has to say, or post, then don't read his stuff. Eventually he'll quit posting, due to lack of participation from others.

No one is forcing anyone to read his OP's, and even more so, no one is forcing others to attack him unmercifully. It is this kind of spirit that bothers me with some on the board.

Some folks are nothing more than snark-specialists, and in doing so, they not only hurt the author of the post, but themselves and the witness of the board!

We need to treat this board like church. I can bet that most who love to snark and attack others would in turn not act this way in their church? And if they did, I'd question wheater that church would be open to and welcoming them with open arms!

Once again, I am talking abot Christian civility, and even charity, by letting these posts pass with little or no recognition! It is the negative recognition that starts a war of words, and the words are always ending ugly!

Shalom, and thank for your words!

RD2, the problem is that almost no one started off being "snarky" towards him. People tried to help. I even offered him advice before (then quit responding to him altogether). What happens is that he asks a question seemingly for advice, then gets angry at anyone who tells him that his choice is unwise. He already has his mind made up, but posts (seemingly) to get the board's praise. None of his posts have been in humility, and hardly any of his questions have been sincere, as evidenced by his follow up posts.

He has turned this board against himself, by not only ignoring sound wisdom, but mocking all who disagree with him - even if it is the entire board.

I stopped posting in response to him long ago. I still read his threads, but mostly in sadness that such a one with zeal would willingly do so much damage to the name of Christ (in his words, "bold and confrontational") by being disrespectful to others. He's trying to evangelize through brute force.

So, all in all, he brought it on himself, and I feel no sympathy for him. I do feel sadness if he does stay away, however, as he would be getting rid of a place that actually gives him sound advice; and will be gathering to himself advisers who already agree with him. He has "itching ears".

Anyone who wants a "forced" rest may ask and I will "ban" you from the BB for a week, month, year, etc - your call.

Easiest way to PERMANENTLY leave is to change your password to a random password (eyes closed) and then not be able to ever log in again.

BTW, people DO need time off. I find, however, most who SAY they are leaving or taking time off, do NOT do so; they say it for other reasons (I can't judge their minds).

So better to just LEAVE and come back when/if you so desire.

    Blessings.
