Just an observation:
The site appears to be a Calvinistic site. I am not sure how you connect it to Skandelon though.

I notice in the Statement of Faith the definition regeneration:

We teach that regeneration is a supernatural work of the Holy Spirit by which the
soul is quickened and divine life is imparted (John 3:37; Tit. 3:5). It is accomplished
solely by the power of the Holy Spirit, through the power of the Word of God (John
5:24; Rom. 10:1317, 1 Peter 1:23). Having been regenerated, the sinner, as enabled
by the Holy Spirit, is brought to repentance and responds in faith to the gospel. (1Jn.
5:1; Eph. 2:89; Phil. 1:29).

It is easy to see that if one accepts this definition of "regeneration," then it would be absolutely impossible for Cornelius to have been regenerated before the arrival of Peter. One must here the gospel before regeneration takes place.

The "conference" is a separate event. The subject of this thread is about the "debate". Somehow saying,"I hope to see the contributions from each of the featured speakers" sounds overly..."something"...like walking into a boxing match and saying "I can't wait to see what they are wearing." ...I don't know, I can't quite put my finger on it. :laugh: I may need more coffee...

I will and would like to get the audio...if I cannot attend in person. maybe I can get a run out that way...need to look at the calendar and try and work it out with the dispatcher.


While I have major differences with Skandelon on these issues...His corporate election ideas, etc...I commend him for stepping right into this open dialogue and pray that we can all profit from the interaction.

He will find Dr.White to be gracious and perhaps able to offer some what I believe would be....needed help.
Skan is polite and articulate.:wavey: I do not know how this came about...but with scans interest in romans 9 perhaps he is confident to go for it. I am proud of Him in that he is sincerely putting his beliefs on the line and there can be value to all as these issues get opened up.

In one of Skans last posts on BB...he identified himself and his site that Benjamin has offered.

Acts being a transitional book....Cornelius and others were in transition from ot saints to nt saints.....look at those who believed in acts 19...we have not even heard if there be a Holy Ghost.

well I know that you are aware I would line up much more with Scan then you or White. Debates rarely change anyones proclivities in this arena but they are always interesting. typing is weak due to surgery today

I know where you stand more or lessQF:thumbsup: You need to continue to hold what you do...until the time comes [if it does come] when you see the need to modify your stance. I do not believe you can change unless the Spirit allows it in the course of your service and study.

My biggest caution with you is not that we differ because I know you are serving God....I believe you are in danger from drinking deeply at the well of some persons on the edge.....you know what I mean...William Lane Craig, N.T. Wright, and your fascination with science in contrast to the creation account. Then again...you are a big boy and feel confident to look over the edge of the cliff.....more than I would:wavey:

thanks for ypur concern....yes I am a big boy and at least reasonably well read. I do not mind too much charges of being in som ways "lib". Goes with the territory of independence. Perhaps one day the spirit will move you more in my directio.

On BB... I tend to not shy away from those who want to attack...but I will take them on. I believe many more gifted pastors would take part if the board was more upright without the attack/counterattack format taking the priority.

While I hold the doctrine very firmly. I do try to keep open to errors that can be found in the outworking of the doctrine I hold. This is what I see as a weakness of some of the reformed theology.
To KNOW what the teaching is...and to obey it in practice is more the battle ground in my mind than the declared teaching itself, if that makes any sense.

I am in northern Ala.now up in Madison nears Huntsville...have a 4;30 delivery, then south to Tifton Ga. for tomorrow...

Have moved and am in the process of searching for another place to assemble, another church. One of my options had the pastor step down a few weeks ago. The church we have visited is SBC....I suspect we have some differences:laugh: I have only visited 2 times, my wife a few more times than I have.
We believe God has many of his people there . I have only offered a small amount of imput in the SS.....one class used a lifeway product, sort of a devotional booklet...on mk4;36-41....people offered their ideas on it...very light, but I was encouraged that they were on the case.
the other class was free styling in EZK 7-8....he wants me to come back...lol

So I am treading carefully...trying to offer helpful verses...without causing any harm or division in the body:thumbsup: I believe they are premill dispy, but only have detected this a bit during prayer time:laugh:

Some others we have had visited have disqualified themselves ..as KJO..stuff, one was teaching the carnal Christian heresy, my wife was stunned to hear it put out as it was....lol.

We are praying and asking the Lord where he would have us to be....it is not so simple....

I wish you good fortune. I am big enough to realize the "theological preferemces" tent is large. People with differing passions as such need to be reached and ministered to in ways they find comforting and acceptable. Guess that is whyt we have thousands of denominations each with their own nuances of theological positions,

You’re kidding yourself if you believe philosophy/logic will not be in play in this somewhat formal debate. White notoriously backs up his scriptural interpretations with rhetorical fallacies, builds strawman, and skips by his opponent’s “real” arguments. I expect Flowers will call him on these tactics and draw him back to what the argument actually is. Hopefully flowers will assertive enough push through the nonsense and to pin White down to the real issues and claims being made. Flowers is already addressing these issues in the link provided on the Syposium thread.

I know you moved relatively close to me, Icon. I was just curious what SBC church you found? (answering in PM is fine, if you don't want the info out in public)

Hope the search continues going well for you. Enjoy northern Alabama. I've found the country between Huntsville and Chattanooga to be some of the most beautiful around.

Dr.White has seen through the philosophical base and smoke screen that attempts to cloud the real issues which are scriptural based.

I believe he will attempt to plant good seed from scripture,and the greek text if need be to feed anyone who wants to learn truth rather than pursue an agenda of carnal reasoning.:thumbs::thumbs:
