You be the judge. This is a prediction given by the great media icon, Paul Harvey, some 50 years ago! Could he have been a prophet, or merely lucky? Give it a listen and tell me!

Paul Harvey was level headed. Not given to much wine.

Watching it it seems clear it wasn't written 50 years ago so I looked it up and discovered this version of "If I Were the Devil" was written in 1996.

Sorry brother .... DID YOU EVEN BOTHER TO READ THE COMPLETE write up from Snopes?????

While it is fact there were updated versions of the original essay by Harvey, the essay quoted by Harvey on the link, was his words.

Next time, PUHleeese check your facts better. Or at least provide the complete story. Harvey did in fact deliver that commentary in 1966.

I doubt you will admit you were wrong, but at least "NOW WE KNOW THE REST OF THE STORY!"

Ahh, did you?! Here is the last sentence in the article clearly dates the video content YOU used as being from 1996, not 50 years ago! It even has the very video being spoken of right there at the bottom of the page with a caption which states that it is (often mistakenly identified as a broadcast from 3 April 1965".

"The following clip (often mistakenly identified as a broadcast from 3 April 1965) captures Paul Harvey's radio equivalent of his 1996 newspaper version referenced above: "

    Edit: 2015 - 1965 = 50. LOL

The article talks about how the content has evolved and even uses your video clip for an example.

    So:

    1: The facts were checked.
    2. The words in the video were not from 50 years ago.

So sorry, but it seems to you that is mistaken about the timing of the words used in that clip. Wink

    PUHleeese NOTE:
DOES NOT SEEM TO AGREE WITH:

...a statement of "prediction" and "prophesy" being made 50 years ago. Does it?

    Laugh

That's OK, Benjamin. I posted a chart showing the number of underemployed in the US, and he said my post did not account for the underemployed.

I continue to FAIL to see what your point is! Are you saying Paul Harvey is not the person speaking these words on the audio of the link? Are you saying that Harvey in fact never spoke this essay, or the version used in this link? Does it really, honestly matter which version is in the link?

So, your comment(s) leave me to believe that this could become one of those back and forth things, and I do not wish to engage you in that. However, If you read the Snope's article and findings you would see it clearly says, MIXTURE! Meaning that link I posted is neither proven or unproven as to it being Paul Harvey who actually spoke this, and that Harvey first spoke a similar of this essay way back in 1966.

Take a gander at this ink, brother, it may assist you: http://www.wnd.com/2015/04/hear-paul-harveys-warning-about-devils-tools/

Still, for the sake of avoiding a back and forth tug-a-war with you, let me end with this .... regarding your attempt to discredit the link and my thread, WHATEVER!

It was broadcast originally, on the radio, on April 3, 1965, it was conflated with the video portion in the 90's. If someone doesn't want to believe it that is their tough luck. Their unbelief does not change reality.

    Thanks Rev!

I was not trying to say that the video attached to the audio portion was original. Some people around here just love to be obstinate! I posted it because it was so right on with what is happening here in America! Blessings to you and your! Thumbsup

You were presenting the idea that Harvey made predictions 50 years ago in the video and asking if it was prophesy, your words were if Harvey "was a prophet" which you based on these predictions being made 50 years ago! (which BTW, I find a strange way of putting it even if he did predict this 50 years ago), or asked if he was otherwise just lucky or what. The truth is the content in the video was NOT from 50 years ago, it in fact was related to current events 19 years ago when it was written. That the Rev doesn't recognize and/or comprehend what I objected to in the Op doesn't change the truth of the matter.

Again, thanks for your thoughtful response. I hope you feel vindicated. And as before, your view is your view. I also stand by what I presented as being authentic. Detente!

I am trying to figure out why someone would have even thought there was anyone who thought the video was from 50 years ago.

Paul Harvey was not a prophet unless every single 'prophecy' he ever proclaimed came true. Even one mistake makes him a false prophet.

Then that would make him extremely lucky. Still, to have proclaimed as accurately as he did what has happened in our society would make him something of a marvel.

I had a Social Work professor predict, in 1972, that within the next thirty years, there would be nothing left of the middle class. He went on to state that like in most of Europe, America would consist of the "haves"and "have not!"

Like Harvey, I considered his vision of the not too distant future to be quite remarkable to say the least. Even scripture tells us that young men would have visions, and old men have dreams! This did not make them prophets, but men that proclaimed a vision, negative like Jeremiah, of things to come in a relatively short time frame.

I never believed either of these men and their proclamations to even be remotely possible, yet, they were right on. I do not see that as being lucky, but rather a mouth piece of God, warning the younger generations of things in the making.

    Shalom C4K...

Glad we were able to get to the bottom of you being mistaken although if I’d had known how offensive that is to you to admit it I probably would have let you rest in your ignorance rather than find myself in a situation where I’m tempted to aggressively rebuke your response to my judgment of the matter, which BTW you asked for. ;)

SMUGNESS doesn't quite describe your spirit ... and arrogant may be too strong a word; so let's just have you ask yourself WWJD/hwJsi; and I doubt He'd speak to another as you have?!

So, regardless of how you justify you attitude and approach, He knows your heart. So thanks for showing your true compassion towards those who disagree with you. Oh, by the way, I still believe you are wrong, I just don't believe arguing with you is worth the time and effort it would take. So, again, "now you know the rest" of my story! Whistling

Careful Benjamin. You're gonna get him and his posse to start calling all your posts dumb now. However will you survive?[IMG]
