Of course the title was meant to be provocative, but though it is true that God loves sinners, at the same time, and in a way that does not stand in contradistinction, it is also true that God hates, not just the sin, but the sinner also.

And I know that he went on to explain how God hates sinners and yet loves them enough to have sent His Son to die for them while they were still sinners. :)

Good stuff. However I'd reserve the adjective 'awesome' for God alone. :)

"God loves sinners so much that He sent His Son to die for them and therefore we who have been saved by that cross, we must see ourselves as debtors to all men and women and likewise love them for Jesus' sake. With a passion for the lost akin to Paul's passion for the lost. Paul could wish himself acursed for his kinsman according to the flesh, we should be so moved by the lostness of our kinsman - our relatives - our people - that we should have the same broken heart that led the Father to send His Son and led the Son to be perfectly obedient."

That's what he gave as an answer to what he would say instead of "love the sinner, hate the sin". :)

We are due the wrath of God because of our actions. God did not want to condemn us. He does want His wrath on us. His wrath is our fault. He does not hate us. He is Holy and cannot allow sin in His presence. He does not hate the sinner, or He would not have become one of us , to die for us. To redeem us and to be with us.
    ,
Unrepentent sinners will face His wrath, but it breaks God's heart. Jesus wept

?? Jesus wept over his dead friend. ??

But you say that God does not hate us. How does that square with the Scriptures where God DOES hate people?

He still believes that the Bible teaches that God hates sinners. That may Fred Phelps-ish, and we all repudiate him, but it is true.

God hates sinners. He is able to hate them and love them at the same time.

Slight rabbit trail - Did Jesus weep over the death of Lazarus, or due to the weak faith of the people? It's obvious that He knew exactly what He would do (vv40-42), so it seems odd that He would weep over the death of a person He would raise from the dead a few moments later.

"God hates sinners. He is able to hate them and love them at the same time."

Back on topic - This points up the limitations of human language and understanding, that the "hate" from the Psalms references and the "love" in Romans 5:8 come from the same Person, at the same time.

No, He knew He was going to bring Lazarus back shortly. He wept because He felt the others grief. They supposed He was crying for Lazarus .

    "God is love"

    Pro 6:16

These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:
    Pro 6:17

A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
    Pro 6:18

An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
    Pro 6:19

A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

He hates actions , sinful behavior, and attitudes not the sinner

Thanks for using Scriptures. In the above PASSAGE there is nothing really about hating the sinner.

    But wait!!! There IS: Laugh

"These six things does the LORD hate...a false witness that speaks lies."

Since you believe Scripture then here you go, there are more Scriptures that show this hard truth:

    Hosea 9:15

    Psalms 5:5

    Psalms 11:5

    Leviticus 20:23

It is noted you literally failed to answer the Scriptures that do say this, and you actually used one Scripture that does show His hatred for sinners. You missed it entirely. Tradition does that. :)

    Bearing false witness is behavior

He does not sinners who did sin, but those who continue in sin or because of their sin. He loves the sinner , hates the sin. Or you would be dead

It is very dangerous to develop doctrine from TRANSLATIONS, especially English

You're in denial of truth. Same Stuff Different Day -- and have STILL not dealt with the actual Scriptures.

Is all your truth based upon your own thinking and opinion? It appears that the answer to that is yes.

It is clear in the Scriptures God hates sinners, God hates liars, the wicked.

I'm sorry that you cannot trust English translations but can trust yourself. That is quite interesting.

    Isa 59:2
But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

    Rom 5:8
But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

If God hates sinners, why do you still exist?

All I know is this from quote from Timothy

1 Timothy 1:15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

The Apostle Paul considered himself the head dog and come to think of it that is exactly how he was saved (DoG) and everything pertaining to it!... Shhh its an inside secret!Wink... Brother Glen
