Yes he is a rookie and that's what his devotees love about him.

The government had nothing to prove. The law gave the president discretion. Therefor the court ignored the law.

What about "If the President finds..." don't you and the court understand?

The court and thus so far the law disagrees with you.

CTB, It's a simile or a metaphor. Figures of speech that are used throughout the bible.

Matthew 3:7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, "Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

Yes, it's offensive but that didn't stop Jesus. He didn't hate the pharisees but He certainly got their attention and :

John 5:34 But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved.

Acts 20:29 "For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock.

Metaphors are used. However it well recognized and accepted that calling a person an insect or animal is hate speech. I have a friend in Prague who wrote his PhD thesis on hate speech. He is the first to explain this to me. There is a path with something like 7 steps in hate speech that lead to genocide. I have another friend who, because of the hate speech being used, predicted the genocide in Rwanda four years before the genocide began. There is no place for the use of such terms by a Christian.

Calling another person an insect or animal is not Christian. It is hate and Christ is not for those who hate.

    A few verses on hate:

    1 John 2:9 ESV / 226 helpful votes
Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness.

    Proverbs 10:12 ESV / 203 helpful votes
Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all offenses.

    Matthew 6:15 ESV / 173 helpful votes
But if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

    Matthew 5:44 ESV / 150 helpful votes
But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

    John 15:18 ESV / 132 helpful votes
“If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you.

    1 John 2:11 ESV / 108 helpful votes
But whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness, and does not know where he is going, because the darkness has blinded his eyes.

Personally I don't remember ever using the language of insult against anyone here on the BB, at least not recently. But I also have no doubt that some have been offended by something I have said.

Another of my hero presidents is Harry Truman ("Giv 'em heck Harry") who said:

"I never did give anyone heck, I just told the truth and they thought it was heck".

But CTB do you need more verses where Christ (who is incapable of hate) or Paul who uses such language?
I disagree that the use of such language is hate speech since Christ used it, Paul used.

I have no doubt that your friend from Prague is brilliant and well educated but I would require biblical proof that the 7 steps he delineates lead to genocide.

Having lived in a housing project in New Orleans as a teenager I fully understand the "roach" metaphor and their behavior when a light in a dark room is turned on.

Perhaps some where along the path it turns to sin.

Indeed Christ was put to death and Paul probably as well, not because of hate speech but because of hatred of the truth.

The problem is that rookie behavior begins to look like incompetence if it continues.

"To look" and "to be" - two different situations.

"incompetence" and "unskilled" two different states of being.

    One is curable.

Not in politics. Perception is everything.

    Ask any one-term politician.

There are those that hate "truth" and if you present the "truth" to them you're a racist, bigot and what ever other names they can come up with!

Indeed. I remember the first six months or so of Clinton's first term was marked by inaction and wringing of hands. They didn't know what to do except hold meetings into the wee hours of the morning. This was also the time of the tragedy at Waco.
